I was a very big fan of your Kondor Legion missions!
You also read my mind about practicing for BoB!
It seems so far that 50% want mix, but an equal amount (25 and 25) want air or ground...it seems mix is the best option

just a side question (i dont want to hijack the thread), what's the name of the map you used for the mountainous mission in the beginning of Kondor Legion? - where you had to down smugglers and so ,I cant seem to find it in the FMB list!

No airstarts please

Will be a sweet campaign FlatSpinMan, love your other ones http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

but if i should go on topic, i vote for (No airstarts)

06-25-2006, 02:27 PM
I've never been a fan of airstarts. If the map won't allow takeoffs, so be it, but if it is possible to takeoff, it would be better to just go with 8x when you are in a hurry for the action. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

06-25-2006, 03:05 PM
if it's anythimg like kondor , i can't wait http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
groundstarts for me

06-25-2006, 03:17 PM
Ground starts are fine as long as the line is'nt a mile long... that gets old after awhile and then your formations are strung out for miles and you enter your battles piecmeal instead of together as it should be... otherwise you might as well be in a dogfight server.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Thanks for the votes, comments and suggestions (and the plug for my other campaign!)http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif Not exactly conclusive yet so I'll if a few more votes come in..and then do whatever I want anyway http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

This campaign will probably be more "simulation-like" compared to Kondor Legion, I think. The subject itself is so interesting and the actual sights and challenges of meeting up, weaving above larger formations and nursing a damaged plane back over the Channel or to one of the pre-arranged ditching points where floatplanes or E-boats are waiting are pretty interesting I think.

Great idea and was wondering if Cobra427 was going to do this himself.

This will be so cool, thanks for your time and devotion.

Bump for you Mr. Flat Spin.

(No airstarts!)

06-26-2006, 01:47 PM
No airstarts.

5-10 minutes is definitely not a longish flight, and since its only 15 missions, I think most would want the full flavor.

As you mentioned, time skip and autopilot will take care of those in a hurry.

06-26-2006, 05:38 PM
No airstart please. I can not wait to fly this one! How soon will it be ready?

06-27-2006, 08:04 AM
Well the no-airstarts contingent are certainly vocal. Looks like it is decided then. Having said that, the FMB is giving me some grief trying to get mixed-plane formations together over a long flight so I may have to cop out on some of them. [Did you know that a BF110 set to 300kmh will pass an HE111 set to 400kmh? I do now http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif]I'll work on it though.
Campaign ETA about Augustish kind of perhaps - and you can hold me to that.

I'll be needing some testers in a couple of weeks so if anyone would be kind enough to help me out please send me a PM.

This looks excellent, Flat Spin! I really love the idea that this will ramp up to (hopefully,) BoB. The ground start gives a sense of completeness to me: you start, you go, you do, and if lucky, you return and are done.

Looking forward to this http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Please keep us posted on your progress with this campaign. Thanks... I am really looking forward to this one.

07-06-2006, 09:47 AM
Thanks for the interest, everybody. I have made a few more missions and acquired one volunteer for testing. PM me if you are intterested in helping out http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif. Large formation timing-hassles and the fact that my PC keeps overheating and crashing on me are delaying things somewhat but the campaign is still on schedule for August sometime.

Here are some pics from a few missions I have been working on. Skins are subject to change.

A raid on the way.

This looks really good.Looking forwards to it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Hint: Use 3-plane formations for bombers, destroyers and Stukas. Rotte and Schwarm were used for the single-engined fighters only.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif Yeah another FlatSpin campaign. imho - NO AIRSTARTS http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif sorry - slipped out. Another great campaign for my lovely Emil...I'm in heaven http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif

07-06-2006, 02:30 PM

Looks awesome!

Will we need 4.05 for this?
Are you using the Gulf of Finland map?

07-06-2006, 02:41 PM
The more pics I see the more I anticipate this GREAT campaign. How much longer? I can't wait!!!

07-06-2006, 11:04 PM
@csThor - thanks http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif, didn't know that. I'll make some changes.
@MrMojok - 4.04m onwards should be fine. At the moment I'm using the same map template that Cobra made Hurricane Season on. Due to the layout of the map I require people to suspend their disbelief a bit with the flight routing. I've had my doubts about this and your post has made me re-evaluate my decision. I love the way Cobra has populated the map but the Finland map does make more sense from a LW perspective - it lines up better and as the missions are taking place at altitude the scenery isn't so important most of the time. Hmm. I'm going to check it out and if need be I may redo things.

Looooking Good!!! I can't wait for this one.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

07-08-2006, 07:00 AM
Well, I had a look but I think I'll stick with the current map. Too many islands, and the map itself can really slow down a PC. Plus, to be honest, it's too much work http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Here's one from a bomber escort mission gone wrong.

A long way down.

SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTING BUMP (it's the best kind) since the last one was "disappeared".

Ahhhh.still one of my fav's http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif In fact I think I'll give it another go! There is nothing wrong with self-promotion when you are an artist of your quality flatspin http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

It should be released this coming week if all goes well. I'll let you know when it's available.
