View Full Version : The Rocketeer

I've been playing around on the 190A (the good looking one, not the ugly 190D) and have been having great fun with the rocket pods.
I can hit bombers at 500m with 2sec delay by lining up where circle intersects the top crosshair. Bwahaha! Revenge on those sniper gunners! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

I would like to know:

1. Which fighters in game have rockets that work in air to air role?

2. How do you best use them. I.e. what is maximum range, best method of aiming, etc.
What are the other combinations? (3 sec delay = 750m?) I.e. range, etc. Can you pick them off at 1000m?

1 All rockets work in the air to air role but the german ones wer optimised for air to air.
Most russian fighters can have rockets, although not all variants.
There are many others aswell ...test them.

2 If u have speedadvantage U can fire from close range if there are only a few bombers. Gives better hitprobability.

If there are many bombers the defensive fire is dangerous and timefused rockets from longest range is to prefer especially if u are in a slower or unmaneuverable fighter like the Bf110.
Many fighters still went in close and made passes with their guns after rockets were gone but that ofcourse was risky.
Bf110 with 30mm cannons in pods used to spray cannonshells on bombers outside the gunners range, especially out at sea where it was extreemly bad to be damaged by returnfire.

Me262 have many rockets released at once wich gives a rocketspray usually followed by a cannonspray from maximum range.

Its fun to hit bombers on long range but extreemly fun to hit fighters with rocket- deflectionshots beyond 500m.

HVARs offer excellent trajectories... Awesome for air to air.

The little rockets carried on both the I-153 and I-16 are perfect for slowing down and breaking up formations of those fast Ju-88's and Heinkels. Especially if you hit some in the process. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Makes it easier for these little-planes-that-could to catch up and deliver a coup de gras.
