For those of you who are not familiar with the Dutch language: Dutch air historian P.C. Boer's book "Het Verlies van Java" is to be translated into English, see:

And about time too! Time to break the piggy bank, boys and girls.........

Great news!
A couple of years ago I borrowed it from the local library, it was a bit meager on photos but a good book nevertheless for those who want to know more about the subject.
Now we wait for the translation of "the airwar around Borneo, dec '41 - febr '42" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

"De Luchtstrijd rond Borneo" and "De Luchtstrijd om IndiŽ" were published in the late 1980s. I'm quite sure that P.C. Boer has found a significant amount of new material in the meantime, so he would most probably want to write revised and updated second editions before considering translating them. Both do, however, fully deserve to be translated.

Very interesting.

I may have to get a copy. Over the years I have become very interested in the NEI during WW2.

A totally forgotten battle on my side of the Atlantic, even though the US Navy and the Army Air Corps did have units that fought in/around Java. Our very first aircraft carrier, the USS Langley was lost in the Java Sea.

Thanks for the heads up.

These books surely deserve a translation...

Well, I have my own copy of "airwar around Borneo" since about six months. Only paid 30 euros and it's in mint condition http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif
