I was doing a search of the web for drag coeffcients on cars (I'm slowly gathering information on the car market these days) and I stumbled on a good piece on NACA prewar testing in the field of aerodynamics.

It provides some interesting reasons for why the P-39 was never fitted with a turbosupercharger.

Great find and reading.

A whole new take on why the P-39 didn't get a supercharger. Possibly NOT AAC bungling.

Yeah I've heard all sorts of reasons why the P-39 was stripped of its turbo so quickly in its development when in retrospect it seems like it was completely necessary.

It seems to be more like they made what seemed like a good decision at the time but it panned out poorly.

All P-39s had a supercharger.

Only the XP-39 had a turbosupercharger in addition
to the engine driven supercharger.
