View Full Version : How do you "Complete" a Patrol Mission?

I've been playing off and on for a couple months and can't seem to complete a mission like "Patrol South China Sea" or "Patrol off Honshu Island".

I'm well into my second year of the campaign and there seems to be no end to those mission types. I'll cruise around the area, sink a couple convoys, go back to Midway for refit, spend three months at sea and can't figure out how to complete those missions.

It is not a matter of showing up at the destination and sinking an unknown tonnage quota. Or destroying a task force. I've done that.

So... how do I do it? Please tell me I don't have to circle the entire area.

Go to the mission star and stay within 50nm. of the star for 48 hours, sink what you can find.
The star should gray out. If you call in they will give you another mission. If you don't call in you can go where you want.
When you get low on fuel or torpedoes don't call in just return to your home port and end the patrol and dock. Since you mentioned Midway I assume that Pearl is your home port, tilted anchor.

tootallofwa you may like to look at the SHIV guide. It has some good stuff in it.
