Folks,

Would appreciate help on this. I've searched but haven't found an explanation for it.

What exactly is the Adjust Sight Control Left and Right for ? Is it for "wind drift" ?

I fly bombers and use the Norden.

Thanks

I fly fighters most of the time, but i know how to handle the Lotfe. I believe the Norden bombsight works the same way like the Lotfe does, except for the metric system the Lotfe uses.

Like you i haven't found out, what the sight adjustment is about. On the Pe-2 bombsight however it is a extremly valuable feature, allowing you to take a wide look at what is going on below you. So you might guess, that this feature is specially implemented for the Pe-2, but on the other hand, the feature came with the first bomber, the Heinkel 111, into the game.

So I am very curious too. Can anybody enlighten us?

It's for wind drift. As wind isn't properly modelled in IL2, you can more or less ignore it for accurate bombming, but it does allow a little bit of view panning to help find the target when looking through the bombsight.

also is the key for stearing X4 left and right.
up and down is increase bombsight altitude and decrease bombsight altitude just for the record.

Thanks folks,

I'm already using all the other controls for bombing.

It was just those two that had me puzzled.

Might an earlier version of IL-2 have had wind ?

I just got IL-2 1946.

Anyway, been fussin' with it and here are some screenshots.

Notice the heading changes after bombsight adjustment for "bombs away".
