I think for once I'm also agreeing with you RedDeth, and my graphics capability is powerful enough. I love wonder woman view. I love being a leftie too. I don't care if I'm not a good ole boy. Oh I don't know.

I race WW - too easy to collide otherwise, but I had a first yesterday ...

... three kills in one flight, and I brought the thing home. (I'm no ace)
Full CP, no externals, online DF.

WW has it's place - full CP has it's place.

Hi,

I was having a late night flying session and nodded off on the keyboard. When I woke up, presumably with the imprint of the keys still visible on my face, I noticed that my usual view had become obscured by dials and this stick thing poking out of the floor. The gunsight wasn't in the middle of the screen anymore, too. And there was this lever thing over to the left that moved when I adjusted the throttle.

It was rubbish.

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of it ? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Cheers,
Norris

Sad. Its all very sad.

AFJ should be some of the first to find some 'cockpit on' religion. Wait till they find out what Oleg gave the cockpit-on crowd.

I don't care what anyone says about it:

I still don't even know how to turn the cockpit off and don't care to learn how. I want to see what a pilot would have seen. I do not want a simulation of a guy sitting at a PC zooming through a 3d world, I want a sim of an airplane. That means that for me, cockpit off isn't even an option.

I use external views sometimes because the game looks so cool I want to see my own plane from time to time. But I never want to be in my pilot's seat with no cockpit around me. When I'm in the cockpit, I want to see a 3d cockpit. I can't even understand the issue. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Hi,

If they could get the same milage out of a gallon of petrol as you can get out of this pointless 'my way is best' debate, there will never be an energy crisis.

It's like my feature request thread that was hijacked in ORR.

The bottom line is this: you fly with whatever settings you like.

You choose the servers you want to fly in.
Your choice - that is why the features are optional.

I expect I'll have someone telling me how to wipe my own a*se next.

Cheers,
Norris

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

The funniest thing about this thread is that the only difference between pit on or off with externals still enabled, as most in this thread still fly, is gunnery skills.

They are much more important with pit on and even then, it only takes about 15-20 secs longer to line up a shot because you can't see the mega deflection shot through the bottom of your plane.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Everything else is exactly the same.

I agree to some extent. The game is a SIM, so it isnt suprising that people want to fly realistically.

I just dont understnad why some people want such a complex and realistic flight model, and dont mind setting trim, radiator, mixture, prop pitch and everything else yet they MUST have the cockpit off, and/or MUST use external views? Flying around in space w/nothing around you just would defeat the whole purpose for me. I mean, WWII dogfighting is all about maneuvering for the kill and then using good gunnery to get that kill; if you dont even have a cockpit, and use external views, then you've just completly changed both of those aspects radically, so where do you stop? What will someone the next day say its fine to have missles and *****in bettys inside of our Yaks and 109's and then rejoice at how there are different ways to play for "all gamers"?

IMO those who try to dismiss cockpit view with such claims that I read here do it mainly because they are not very good in it and tend to die far more often then what they are use too. But they will never admit that http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

How true!
You can still have outside views in a hosted server, to enjoy the inherant beuty of the game.
However if you try to shoot an opponent down its going to be from inside the **** pit using the proper gun sight from now on.

That is the way it should have always been from day 1.
We already have the option of not allowing outside views at all, to keep the full reality crowd, happy.

S!
PS and while we are at it why dont we GET RID OF the no instant success option!

The cockpits are NICE but trust me you're not seeing ALL that a pilot would have seen.
Why does noone ever mention peripheral vision in these threads?
I prefer to see a little more in the front to in a way makeup for the lack of peripheral vision.

actually i was poking fun at cockpit on guys tongue in cheek.

BUT... and i am a guy who likes to fly cockpit off.
but i also love cockpit on view and to toodle around in sometimes.
but you really do need something to make up for the monitor.
either icons plus padlock or externals. otherwise full real is unrealistic.

i have a buddy who is a pilot we go down to halfmoonbay from sanjose municipal and i gotta say a real plane is nothing like fullreal.
ive also flown T6 texans and done loops and rolls.
and i wouldnt worry about dogfighting in a real planes view but if real planes views were like fullreal id never want to be a pilot

Cockpit off is for noobs.

They asked for radar to be modelled in the bf-110 to see where the others are. FB allready has it!!! It is called cockpit-off-coloured-pointers. and padlock and externals.

No need for a seperate radar to be programmed.
