Never quite got my head around how to get pictures to show up on the forum, so you'll have to follow the link I'm afraid.

My seven year old son wanted a World War 2 airbase for his 'planes for Xmas, which isn't the kind of thing that you can pick up at Toys R' Us or Woolworths, so me and my wife made this for him.

http://www.garethmccorry.co.uk/airbase.html

It might not be perfectly authentic, but he loves it.

Very, very nice.

Now, are you sure its for him and not for you? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Rumbled already! ...It's important that he learns to share though right?

You've just made my day. I'm sitting here with a big sploppy grin remembering my boyhood with model aircraft. Thanks and well done.

I'm glad you all liked it. It was fun to build, and it's fun to play together with him on; and not half as uncomfortable as having him sitting on my knee flying either (his legs are too short to reach the rudder pedals).

you want to make a little seat for him that could go over your legs, a bit like one of those meal trays on legs u can use in bed if that makes sense

That's not a bad idea at all Tony. I tried putting the pedals on a box once, but he needs a guiding hand to stop him being too heavy handed on the joystick (won't let me turn stalls and spins off for him) and someone to do the mouse look, so I had to stoop over him, which was even less comfortable.

p.s. To make pictures show up...
<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">your Link like the one above </pre>

Just edit your post, put the img and /img (with the square brackets) stuff around any link for a JPG, BMP or PNG format picture (not html) above and it will show up in the forum http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Wow that brings a smile. Thanks for sharing. My son is 16 months and when he hears or spots a plane in the sky he points with both hands and says "eh pane". http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif Someday he will fly, I hope.

Thanks for the tip Max & Tully, it was probably 'cause I was trying to put a picture the size of a house in my signature that I had trouble before...

Orhiem - She's a great mum for sure, after all, I may have had a teeny ulterior motive for making the base, she just did it 'cause it was what he really wanted and she knew he'd play with it all the time.
