Ok... I've been puzzled for a while now

On my radio - there's only Report Status and Report Contact. But I've seen references more than once about "calling in" "asking for instructions" etc etc...

so uh... is there more radio menus than i realize?

Not sure what you mean, when I click the radio man and click reports, I get report of contacts, report contacts, and patrol report. Unless Im missing what you are talking about?

if you get radio messages and cant figure out how to read them.

hit [M] and it will go to your Message screen.

Then click on the message you want to view. (listed by time)

Is that what you are talking about?

I've been wondering about the same thing, ShinyBaldy!
People ask for new instructions after patrolling their grid for 24h, or request escort into homebase and stuff. Am I missing something here?

I don't believe you are missing anything. All I get is "Be more aggressive" and "keep up the good work". After my 24 hours at my assigned area, my messages remain the same. I have never been instructed to go any place else so I make it a free for all. Perhaps a new patch could add additional perimeters to a career.

"Death, invisible, silent, always."

hi there matey the types of radio replys and orders were not put into game, escort to base and patrol new sector and i believe they were removed from the manual with the updates as well. you will find them though in the box manual. hope i was some help. mind you they would have been nice when we get into the war further.but who knows what sh4 will bring, it can only keep getting better.

I stopped checking my radio messages, so tired of reading, keep up the good work, this message does NOT motivate me in any manner. I think Ill post patrol reports after every 5th ship sunk to keep that dull message to a minimum.

I dont want messages saying ok now go patrol here after this etc then it becomes one of those games that has "{levels}". I prefer the do whats assigned then go kick some butt.

Get the radiolog mod at subsim or ubootsimulation, adds historic BDU messages and the heavy version adds lots of intercepted traffic from other boots or even merchant distress calls.

So you all don't have to go hunt for it, here is Radiolog "Heavy"

http://rapidshare.de/files/2697198/Radiolog.zip.html

There is supposed to be a "lite" version, but I go for max immersion so I figured heavy was for me.

One caveat, the heavy mod is only done with the u-boat intercepts and other to 1941, like the lite mod it has BDU/OKM messages for the whole war however. Great mod.

Is there some trick to this radiolog mod? I think mine's busted.
I dropped the file (lite version) into my campaign folder -- replacing the file already there -- before leaving on my current patrol six (6) weeks ago [type IX] and I've received one (1) message: "Keep up the good work." in response to a patrol report after patroling my grid. In other words, just like the old system.

Is there some config file change to make, too?

btw, it's May 41 for me.

If you get a "Keep up the good work" after sending a radio report yourself, then that ha snothing to do with the mod, that is the game engine.

So any idea why I'm gietting none of the other messages from BdU? The messages_en file does go in the campaigns folder in place of the original one, correct?

I'm sure it's something simple I've fudged. I just wish I could figure it out. I'm running v 1.4. Only a few graphics mods (strictly swapped .tgas), the 'vitamins' fatique mod, and the Harbor Traffic mod.

As I said, I made the radiolite mod change while in port, before starting a new campaign, and I haven't received a single radio message in almost six weeks at sea -- April 1 til mid-May 1941 -- except the aforementioned "keep up the good work."

My radio room is manned at all times. Am I missing something really simple? Like turning the radio on? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Any ideas on where I might have screwed the pooch? This thing obviously works great for everyone else.

I would guestimate 40-50 percent of the time. Maybe a little less. Hard to tell with TC.

Radiloglite only has mesages for changes in standing orders - meaning you could go months without getting one.

Really? Ok. Just not patient enough, I guess. Thank you, sir. Carry on, then. Nothing more to see here.
