View Full Version : Multiplayer Freezing Only When Assassinating

As the topic states, my game only freezes in multiplayer just as I start to assassinate someone. It's extremely intermittent but happens about 75% of the time - sometimes it's the first kill, other times it's 3 or 4 games in. The only thing I can do is Ctrl-Alt-Delete and End Task; I'm not given any kind of error and I can still hear the music playing. I've looked around but haven't found anyone mentioning this specific problem. Any help is greatly appreciated as I essentially can't play the game in multiplayer mode, which is what I bought it for. Thanks in advance!

The same thing was happening to me on my second day of playing. I turned shadows down from 5 to 4 in multiplayer (keeping the rest of my graphics settings maxed) and that seemed to solve the problem.

It's not a bad compromise, but it shouldn't be necessary as my PC has no trouble running the game with shadows maxed.

Ubi-Mush, that link is useless and in no way can it be considered helpful in this situation. They aren't connection issues, the game is freezing. Did you actually read this topic? You should be fired.

Hey LawnGoblin, do you by any chance play with a 360 controller? I do, and the freezing issue just started happening again. It seems every time it happens I'm pressing about 3 or 4 things at once:

High Profile + Assassinate + possibly Jump(typically by accident) + Left Analog Stick (moving character, not camera).

Yeah, I read the FAQ before posting and it was quite unhelpful for this specific problem. Thanks for the effort, though - I guess. Frictionite, I do indeed play with the 360 controller. I'll turn my shadows down and see if that helps at all and I'll experiment with the buttons. If it's due to multiple inputs, I can't believe more people aren't having the same problem. Reporting back after some testing.

Well that didn't take long at all. First game, didn't freeze up at all - was careful with inputs, shadows changed to 1. At end game run-down, I jammed as many buttons as I could, including pressing in right and left thumbsticks and...lo and behold, it froze right up. The problem, then, is the controller. Any ideas how to fix that?

Hmmm... it could be a problem with the game, or it could be a problem with the 360 controller / drivers having a problem similar to keyboard ghosting, and possibly even a combination of both.

We'll have to submit some type of formal bug report. Maybe Ubi-Mush's links may come in handy after all, lol.
