It sounds like you have some kind of virtual CD installed http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I have the same issue. I have bought the game today and can not play. I have deinstalled CD/DVD emulation software, disabled external USB DVD/CD-ROM and tried
internal SCSI CD-ROM. Nothing helps. I have no CD/DVD emulation now, but the same error message comes every time. I use XP.

That is a very bad news. That means I have to uninstall my nero virtual drive. And also I was hoping that I don't have to insert CD EVERYTIME I play the game. Hmmm http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

About your problem mi076, maybe you have deinstalled all your virtual drives and stuff but somewhere in the registry traces remains. Reinstalling windows should take care of that problem if nothing else helps.

You don't have to reinstall windows http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Just download the freeware software "EasyCleaner" from http://personal.inet.fi/business/toniarts/ecleane.htm and let it clean your register.

Doom 3 was the first game I played that required disk emulation to be disabled or uninstalled. I had to uninstall my Nero just to play until I found a nocd.
Its and attempt to keep people from buring legal disk into iso or bin and cue files and mounting them to a virtual drive. In other words it an attempt to prevent piracy.

Let me get this streight.
I will not be able to install and load PF, because I have an external CD, that is capable burning CD data and DVD material? Did they not put in a copy protect program?

You don't have to uninstall clone cd - search the registry for clonecd entries, save / export them to reg file and delete or rename those keys. In case you want to use clonecd again someday you can restore your working clonecd configuration very easily by double clicking the reg - File.
