Hi all, i'm not that active on this forum in posting replies but i am here all the time (reading and searching). The topic i failed to find was about static ships toughness. I mean, on my DS i put one russian battleship on the pacific islands map (doesn't matter which map i use, i know http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) and tried to sink it. Fat chance. With my colegue we send at least 15 torpedoes at her and she was still kicking our asses. The bit Q is am i doing anything wrong? have i overlooked any settings or what? I mean, i can't have normal ships in MP that have a curse plottet (they just arent there when i run the map) and theese static ones are tough beyond belief. And it's difficulty is set to "rookie" but i guess that affects only the fiering accuracy?

Oh, one more. ROF, that is for Rate Of Fire, right? It is set to 1.0. What is the best option for this so i don't get pounded that hard http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Lover is better? But i can try this one on my own.

Battleships are huge and can take a lot of damage. Try placing a smaller ship if you want to kill it easier.

The ship ROF can be set all the way to '100'. '1.0' is the default.

For a lower ROF, set the number higher. Experiment until you find a reasonable setting. Try something between '5' and '20' for starters.

Also, you may want to try the Mission Builder Forum on this site:

Since the last bloke didn't answer your question http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif allow me to have a go....

I am fairly sure that battleships and carriers are divided into 3 seperate compartments, of which you must destroy 2 to sink it.

So, if you pump 15 torpedos into the central compartment without destroying one of the other two, then she won't sink.

Also, if you die before your torpedo hits the ship, the damage it causes won't count http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif, one of the hugest bugs in this game.

So, spread your torpedos around the ship and don't die until they hit! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Thanks The_Gog. I'll gove that a try as soon as i come home. However i am pretty sure that i hit the "***" of that battleship a couple of times and my mate hit the "belly" of it. Floating like nothing happened. But i'll give it a closer look this time.

And i'll give that ROF settings a try too, thanks Aviar.

What aircraft are you using to attack it with?

The IL2 T has a pretty weak torpedo.

Someone said 5 or 6 torpedos to sink a carrier.

However I have sunk a battleship with a 500kg bomb dive bombing in a Ju-87 stuka

the IL2T torpedo is realy weak !
as example you nedd two of them to sink a freighter/tanker.

AI G4M1 need 6 torpedos to sink a BB KG V class and only 2 torpedos to sink the much weaker soviet BB Marat. all hits are exactly at the same point midships !

I usually find skip bombing with the largest bombs I can get on whatever aircraft is available works best on most ships, some of the tougher warships require a few sorties though...

You can have moving ships, as well as vehicles and AI aricraft in a cooperative multiplay server, but not in the dogfight server. If you save your mission in the cooperative folder, and load it from a cooperative server, then you'll have your moving ships.

The best anti-ship weapon in the whole game is the F4U-1C/F4U-1D/Corsair Mark IV with a Tiny Tim rocket. If properly aimed...a Corsair can get a carrier by itself...two Corsairs can probably sink battleships!

Hey guys, thanks for all the info.
I am flying mostly A20-G. When i'm on torpedoing mission http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I'll try sinking it with cors, see what happens http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

About the coop server/missions. I am running a DS, so there is no way 4 me to host coop missions, if i got that fact right. So, too bad for me, i guess http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks.

I can sink a carrier with 7 torpedoes or 2 Tiny Tims.

It only takes 4 Tiny Tims to sink a Carrier =-)

How come that F4U-C can not carry any "tiny tims" and F4U-D can? If i undarstand, the C version vs D version is only in weapon load (canons vs mg's). Too bad i guess http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Will have to fly with weak mg's then.

Yes, m8. Even if you're Trop has a good a true aim and is 10 seconds away from targets, if you die, so does the Trop.
