Ok i went thrift store shoping this afternoon with the flavore of the month. (ie girlfrend) and i found a BRAND NEW wingman xtream 3d stick. in the box & un-used for 7 bucks! nice find huh.
but onthe way out i see the sidewinder commander sitting uner the glass counter.
it's 8 bucks. so i figure what the hell. I can download the softeware 7 drivers when i hit the crib. nada. i forgot Micro$hit stoped suport for this stuff way back. So the software is nowhere on thier web site.

So anyone have one of these things, the disk for one, or know where i can download the softwear & driver. I've been looking for 3 hours now. no luck. so i'm hoping some of the stick guru's may be able to help.

thanks guys.

this is the correct driver though
Microsoft SideWinder Strategic Commander HID Drivers 5.1.2600.0

but when you click on the download link ya get this:

"Unfortunately, the publisher of this program has not submitted any valid download links. You can notify us here."

Don't even bother with the software or drivers...If you really want them, think I may have the latest MS put out, yet for all intensive purposes it won't work with XP and up.

Simply attach your stick, let plug and play find it and if it doesn't do a manual add new hardware. Then make all your adjustments in my computer>control panel>game controllers

Well it sees it when it's pluged in but it's not listed in the list under game controlers.

Dear Copperhead:

I too own a SideWinder Strategic Commander and have had it now for 6 years. I have loved it since the day I bought it. To me, I truly believe it's the best thing around for FPS games. I'm glad it works for you, but I wanted to find out in detail though how did you got it to work on Vista 64? If you can could explain it to me in detail that would be awesome! I sent you a personal PM with my phone number so you could call me to explain it better over the phone. I ask this because I talk much faster than I type and it would be great to finally meet someone who has as much fun with this device as I have had. Let me know what you can do. Also, since I don't use Ubisoft's forum that much, could you personally email me back to let me know that you received this request? Thanks again for whatever you can do. Take care and talk to you soon. Carl... ( lcm@entouch.net ).
