I want to know if the Bf-110 is any good at Tank busting on the Eastern Front? I am starting a campaign and i want to know what is the best weapon to use against tanks on the Bf-110G2.

Never mind i found my own answer. The Bk3.7 37mm cannon. Works real well against T-34's.

I think it's the Fw-190 Anton for all unarmored or lightly armored ground units , it has the advanatage of speed and toughness compared to the 110 that is very vulnerable because of his engines .

Just ask the Stukas or Ju-88 to take care of heavy tanks and heavily armored units and wipe out everything else with the 190-A8 or boosted A5 for example , they have a lot of ammunitions and are very effective against AAA and any columns or train except the Heavy tanks which they can still destroy with bombs .

I'd say the 190+Stuka or Ju-88 duo is the best . If Axis had the later version of Hs-129 , it would be also a contender, cause it was tough and well armed despite being an easy air-target .

Yep...that cannon works wonders. Also the AB500 bombs (the 110 can carry two) can, if properly employed, take out rows of tightly packed cars or tanks. OR...it can miss everything completely.

Once again Icefire u have some of the best advice to give. I was using the AB500 and took out 4 T-34's in one pass. The BK3.7 only works if u have a clear shot of back of the tank, from the front it is useless against any heavily armored vehicle.
it is still a good weapon to use, but it has it's limitations.

the thread starter is actually wanting a Henschel Hs-129 , which unlike the Typhoon wasnt a suck plane

only raging noobatrons think a typhoon would be needed when we lack a proper & decent plane like the Henschel Hs-129

Psss....the Hs-123 was a better plane than the Hs-129. The Typhoon doesn't even compare http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Best LW ground attack plane is the Pfeil with the big cannons (MK-103s?) on the wings. 1000KG internal bomb load, fast as all get out, monstrous firepower, and can carry cluster munitions as well.

Followed by the Blitz. No guns, but really, guns are best for soft targets anyway. More bomb load, more accurate striking, and much faster.

3rd place would have to be the 262A2. Only 500KG worth of bombs, but one hell of a delivery platform. Plus armed with firepower sufficient for soft targets, and enemy aircraft, including bombers. A true fighter/bomber, deadly in both roles.

I want the HS 129 since the days of original IL2...

irl it was of course the Fw190 F8 and F9.

In game little beats divebombing in a Ju88.

My favourite would be the Ar-234. It has the speed and the accuracy to make quick, precise attacks. The diving bombsight is easy to use and enables the pilot to deliver his payload spot on. And nothings beats a low level egress from the target area with 950+ kph while frustrated bandits take shots at you knowing they won't catch you http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

My favourite would be the Do-335.
High bombload and strong firepower.
The Do-335V13 can even destroy T-34 with the cannons.

Question: Did the V13 fly in WWII?

No, there was only a prototype, thats why it hold the V designation (which normally indicates prototypes)

The best ground attack aeroplane? That would be the Morane-Saulnier 406 used by Finnish Air Force! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The best Axis ground attack plane is the Mistel, there's no cockpit so it's a bit windy but FM and DM are very accurate http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Of the aircraft around when it mattered up to '44, I'd probably go for a 190 of some sort.

I find aiming the 3.7cm on the 110 a little awkward; seems like it's angled down a little, but the sight doesn't account for it. Certainly seems easier to aim the twin 3.7 cm guns on the 87G. If you have the luxury of being able to go back-and-forth over the target plinking tanks, then whichever you prefer of the 87G and 110G might be best for maximum number of kills. But for a much safer attack profile with an acceptable result I like the 190 with some sort of AB munition. One pass and out at high speed.

I vote for just about any A and F version of the Fw-190.

Nice all around plane and great for ground attack in the game. Too bad the Doras do not have any ordinance in this sim... there are some easy updates that IL-2 should have had a while back I think... such as existing ordinance that was never placed in existing planes in the sim...

Waffentraeger is not the correct name for the Hs 129 with the 75mm cannon - it was simply the Hs 129 B-3. The Waffentraeger reference comes from the weapons manual for the Hs 129.

The best Axis ground-pounding AC? Well, Stukas and/or 88s will carry the day anytime if operated correctly and the odds are not too badly against you...
