View Full Version : Complex Engine Management?

Hey guys, just a quick question regarding the Complex Engine Management selector in the difficulty settings of PF.

What does it mean?

If I turn it off, what will it do? Will the aircraft automatically adjust for the optimum mixture settings and propeller settings while you fly with this setting applied? iin other words, if I go to 20,000 ft in my Corsair, will the AI know to change my supercharger settings or any other options to allow the plane to fly at it's best at a given altitude with complex engine management off?

If complex engine management is ON what will I have to worry about while flying?

I have read the paper manual, but it's not very clear about this particular setting.

You have the general idea

With CEM off, the 'proper' mix, supercharger stage, prop pitch etc., is selected

With it on, you must do those things. Oddly, you still won't have to do things like check your magnetos or even turn them on if CEM is enabled http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Note that the type of propeller pitch control may be different from plane to plane. Some have what is more like a 'proper' pitch control and you can over-rev quite easily, while others have a constant speed prop and the pitch is more of an rpm governor

I like to have CEM on.. I do wish however that when enabled it was totally enabled and each function could be toggled like the prop pitch on the 109s.

I would agree Bearcat, I figure it doesn't hurt to have the option for more realism or more player interactivity with the cockpit systems. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
