I can think of several political figures in my country who desperately need to be acquainted with Godwin's Law...

In fact, I think it would be hysterically good and funny radio if a reporter were to ask some of them about it, and record the responses. Senators Boxer and Durbin would make near-ideal candidates...

cheers

Makes sense to me and we have all seen this many times before IE: if you fly blue planes and do not think they are overmodeled than you are a Nazi.

Hoarmurath

btw, it happen that if you fly red, but you don't think red planes are undermodelled, you are a nazi too... Amazing, isn't it?

I bet Mike Goodwin would cringe uncontrollably in this forum. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I have often thought of those accusing others of being "Nazis" during a discussion were actually insecure. I'm sure they don't believe what they are posting. It seems like a defense mechanism. It's as if they are cornered and have nothing left to lose.

Have you ever noticed when a poster has been labelled "Nazi", that poster's last post was difficult to argue against and also very logical and objective?

When you can't beat'em, call'em a "nazi".

Hmmm, think it's time to change my quote. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Everyone is wrong often.

Close there that man http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif Esox Lucius is the Latin name for a Pike. A freshwater predator in Northern climes.

Few years back was playing an online RPG with an Empire building theme,,, the name stuck http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Nah, "Pirschjaeger" means "hunter/stalker". I choose it because of my flying style. But since the new FM I've been thinking of changing it to "Kaputtjaeger". http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Dont think you can hide behind the skirts of "Godwins Laws" and get a free-pass to spout s**t. That includes posts that are "direct" and those that are read-between-the-lines in their subtleties.

If a poster doesnt like the label?, then they should take steps to avoid looking like one. Dont go deer hunting with antlers on your head and gripe after you take fire.

The problem is, the poster is usually labeled for not agreeing with a certain group, nothing more than that, and this group seems to be a minority.

I have never seen, accept for one poster who isn't here anymore, anyone ever say they had a liking for the Nazis. But you only have to like something German or dislike something Allied to be labelled a Nazi. Show me a post where someone is supporting the Nazi ideals.

I think this comes from the fact that although the Allies won the war, it took almost everything for the Allies(many countries, much resourses) to finally beat Nazi Germany(one country, mcuh borrowed resourses). That goes for both wars.

What the "Nazi label givers" don't seem to understand is that the "labelled Nazis", including myself, are happy that the Allies finally stopped the Nazis. Had Hitler won he would have lived a few more years and therefor been able to kill even more innocent people. Everyone, including the Germans, paid a very high price with blood. Had Hitler won the price would have been much higher before the end of his life.

I didn't have to read "Godwins Law" to know that "Nazi Label givers" were using this as a desperate defense when losing an argument. I've been on this board and others for 4 years.

There's a movie called "Der Untergang". I don't know if there's an English version but it's about the last 12 days before Hitler's suicide. This movie is based on the accounts of Trudl Junge(Hitler's secretary) in the bunker in Berlin. From start to finish you can see an already weakened Hitler becoming weaker and more desperate by the minute. Near the end he is making all kinds of claims and placing blame on everyone besides himself, even on his glorious Aryan race.

After watching this movie it reminded me of some of the threads I've read in here and the way some of the posters, in desperation, start name-calling and giving the "Nazi" label. It's kind of ironic that some of the "Nazi label givers" remind me of the worst Nazi of all.

Who will be the next to lable me a Nazi?

Fritz

Or sometimes all you need to do is forget to include "the Nazis were eeeeeeeeeeeevil!" and "god-bless the freedom loving Allies!" in every one of your posts for your "loyalties" to be suspect.

I don't like the P-51 but do like the P-47, so I'm only half "Nazi".

But wait a minute, I like the 109 and 190. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

There really needs to be another corollary though, godwin's law usually doesn't apply to more serious WWII discussions.
