Hi, i currently have a gtx280 in my rig at the moment, and am toying with the idea trying to get another for my christmas present to me. My question is, does it have to be the same make, or just a gtx280 to run in sli?

cheers fruitbat

Best is same make and same type. For SLI the cards need to be as closly matching as posible.

Think you find you have a verry hard time finding an GTX280 btw.

If i where you i wait for the GT300 Fermi cards though, there supost to be cheaper and faster.

They may be faster but I highly doubt fermi will be any cheaper, gt300 is a HUGE die and their yields by all reports are atrocious.

They will be cheaper compaired to the current cards, otherwise they cant keep up again in price/performance with AMD.
That was one of there main points for this card wen they developed it.
