That's a good question! We are looking in on how to make it a more public thing, but for now you have to be a member.. Sorry.

But on the first note, yeah it's good to see another USAAF squad for sure. We are actually a part of the 8AAF ( http://8AAF.com) which is a virtual version of the original 8AF "The Mighty Eighth"!

Maybe we can link up at some point and bring about a quick end to this war...

What do you think of the P-47 so far? I am more very impressed, despite the big objections from others about the roll rate...It really moves now. Still waiting on the P-51 (since my squad is based on the original 357th FG who was the first P-51 fighter group), but for now we are all really impressed with the P-47.

We have been a strong advocates for the need to have some sort of organization, level of participation & cooperation among the us squads in FB for a long time. There are a few others who feel the same. And i think that there is a 8th AF here already in FB. That, i think is being spear headed by the Guys over at the 361st FG. I can put you in touch with the 361st CO Eagle if you like. Great bunch of guys and probaly some of the best Jug pilots in FB /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
There are a growing number of squads comming over from CFS to FB. The HA H*ll's Angels Bomber Group comes to mind.
So the USAAF is a growing force in FB. with groups like the 353rg FG, 31stFG, 332nd Redatils & others moving in we'll eventually gain a compative edge in number. Least we hope /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

As for the P-47 in FB....our squad is pretty much in agreement that she's a lame duck. The engine performance is noticalbly better post patch, but as far as any thing else she's a Brewster with 8 .50's. lol
Which kinda sux cause the Thunderbolt is our historicaly correct aircraft. The p-39 is now the killer it should be.
and the P-40 is much better as well. Over all turning in the p-40 is greatly impoved IMO, but she's a real loose goose.
We've pretty much givin up on the jug till it's fixed and are consentraiting on the p-39/40 aircraft. Also Looking forward to the P-38/51/61's that are being modeled. And again On behalf of the Tophats and the other USAAF Sqauds,
Welcome /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Rg on the P-51's. We have always thought of ourselves as a P-51B FG and to my knowledge the only 'official' one on the net, so we are hopeful that the "B" variant is made 'flyable' and not just AI...

In terms of the Jug, I suppose I disagree with the 'lame duck' status, but I still need more time against 109's to be sure how it does in dogfights. For me, personally, I think it is one of the most fun and challenging airplanes in FB to fly and never gave it much thought before FB. I like the feel of the big, heavy, clunky planes that put you right on the edge when you perform aerobatics.

In terms of the 8AAF, it was actually was started in CFS3 and was designed to promote CFS3-ers to want to join an 'American League' so to speak, but the momentum and popularity for CFS3 never really made it. We still have friends in the 8th, although we would surely consider teaming up with other USAAF Fighter Groups and squads.

In terms of my newness to FB, I was here in the first week. I'd have been in IL2 Sturm when IT was released, if it had run on my computer back then. I never installed any of the patches, and rather kept my focus on the soon-to-be-released CFS3.

However, the week FB came out, I picked it up with the intention of doing a case study between it and CFS for a publication called the "War Manual" (published by the 8AAF and now called the "FRONTLINER" by Com-Central.Net). I told myself to be objective though I expected it to be less that it turned out to be. I was totally blown away. So much so, that when I reported back to my squad mates what I thought of it, they all ran out and got it. A week later we were a FB Squad entirely. We lost some key people along the way, who remain die-hard CFS-er's, but the brunt of us are enchanted with this sim.

All we needed was our P-51 which looks like it is soon to come!

At any rate, I am as much into the idea of community-building, which has been my main endeavor when not flying. The 8AAF, the War Manual, the Frontliner, my involvement at Com-Central and even the idea of joining a more centralized alliance of FB-USAAF vfp's is certainly right up my alley.

Also, I am constanly scouring the internet for people to talk with, interview, receive news and information, and people to write articles for the Frontliner. If you know people who like to write about sims, who have tips, or are very knowledgable about WWII aerial combat history, then they might find a good place to relieve some of the pressure of 'knowing-to-much' and having no one to share with. The Frontliner, has all kinds of interviews from good people like Sammie, Jiri, Paul Lowengrin, to great community builders like Shadow_Bshwackr and 401RCAF_Hitman, to real hard-core pilots who spill out figures by the boatload such as Ojisan_Alpha, to people who have ties to history like 46th_PBMay, and CFS3's favorite Mission maker Irish.

Then there are people like me who just like to talk a lot! Lol.. anyhow, it turned into more of an ad, but I really meant to stir some interest and maybe get you and a few others to check this publication out, because we, like the Forums, want to create a great way of bringing people in the flight sim community together.
