Hyper says it's due to a broken server (gateway).

OK, maybe someone can help me here:

I thought I'd give ubi a shot since HL is down. But not only do I not have access to the servers because of that activeX crap (yes, I modified the settings but it didn't help jack), the ubi servers are also down anyway.

So I tried ASE - I can get a server list, I get good ping times, but any server I try to join gives me a time-out in the FB screen. So, what might be the reason for that?

I'd appreciate your help.

heartc

...someone has posted in the German Ubi forums that "Jiri is updating the website and server for the new version of HL"

This might help.

At the UBI FB lobby, let's say the DF room for example.
In the window at the very bottom and to the right you should see. Settings, My provile, ect. Go into settings under the netwerk tab and change your port setting to 43500.

If this dose not help then make shure you are using your external IP.

This has helped me overcome the anoying Time out message

I hope this helps..

Thank you very much for your answer! However, the situation I described above is not occuring with UBI, but with ASE, "All Seeing Eyes". It's a software that has been mentioned in this forum some times already and which browses for FB and other online games currently running. I might try that external IP thing though, if there are similar options in ASE, even when I don't know at all what tf it means http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

Perhaps someone else knows the prob and can help out. But right now it's pretty late here already so I'm going to check back this thread tomorrow.

If you're on DSL like I am then you will have an internal and external IP. To play over the net on ASE or Ubi, make sure that in your network setting tab in FB setup, that you have your IP set to your external IP number. You may find that you've currently got it set to default or to your internal IP.

PM me if you don't understsnd this.

good luck
