View Full Version : Is there a Mod that Impoves "Quick Mission"?

I always wondered why some more functionality was never written into the quick mission mode. It is the most common way I play when all I am trying to do is compare aircraft. It is surprising that the only thing you can do are attack missions against 3 types of ground targets. There is no mode for intercept missions where you are trying to defend something and no mode for better ship targets, or any army target other than airfields or tanks. Does anyone know of a mod that brings more functions into the mode? Can the devs address this? Thanbks in advance.

I wish the QMB were more powerful too but alas, there are no mods for this game (not allowed by the devs). Of course there is the Full Mission Builder, but it isn't very easy to learn in my opinion and building missions can take a lot of time.

There is this:

and this:
http://www.uberdemon.com/index2.html

I hope all maps will be integrated in the QMB and DGEN with the last patch.

Thanks for the links, i just took a look at Uberdemon's mod and it looks like EXACTLY what I was imagining. Has anyone used this? Reviews?

D/L the first link and give MissionMate a go. It's a fantastic utility and straightforward to use. It's the big,big-brother of QMB.

Also, the missions you create are simple to use as online co-ops if you wish.

Best Regards,

Actually the FMB is not as daunting as it may at first seem. There are several FMB guides available. To better understand what it is and what it does I suggest you go to the Mission Builders Forum (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/ubb.x?a=frm&s=400102&f=50910533). Although modding in the traditional sense is not possible in this sim, there are some great user made utilities that really add tremendously to the sim. You might also want to try some of the other utilities listed in the Nugget's Guide thread that is stickied at the top of this forum, and also give the Essentials thread in my sig a whirl. The creativity of community members from mission builders to utility makers more than makes up for the lack of "moddability" in other areas of the sim which, frankly are better left to a single entity anyway for better or worse. In the real world the laws of physics apply... in the Sturmoviverse (Ooooo I think I just coined a phrase.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif ) the laws of 1C for better or worse apply.... works for me.

Both of those products are EXCELLENT!!
In my opinion both deserve a spot on your hard drive.... they are similar but the differences are enough to warrant both of them. I think that Mission Mate is actually a little easier to use initially although both programs are pretty easy. MM has an interface that is in my opinion less cluttered and more resembles the sim interface.

My vote goes to Uberdemon's wonderful software http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif Be sure and use his tutorial - 30 minute s of time now is well worth it in the long run! I love the FMB - it really is very easy to use (with the exception, for me anyway, of getting glider tows to work properly). I learned to use the FMB by downloading missions others had built and opening them in the FMB to "reverse engineer" the process. In fact, most of my favorite missions are "mods" of other people misions http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

I wish I wasn't at work so I could load these utilities immediately. You know, I've been playing IL2 since first relaese (5 years!?) and I always disliked the limitations in the QMB and cursed the thing. It just goes to show that it pays to ask.....

The UQMG is old too..it's been around for a while.

I dunno why UQMG didn't come to mind when I was posting earlier. Guess I was a little "mentally fatigued" due to being at work http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Believe me, I'm no stranger to many of the 3rd-party utilities out there. As far as the FMB, I understand a lot of it but I think it's still pretty time-consuming to build a decent mission. meh.
