So I was just wandering on the official US site of Conviction when I saw a link/announcement to/of the Official Prima Strategy Guide (http://www.primagames.com/guides/display.php?isbn=9780761557654&tab=details#tabs)
There it states as one of the highlights:

Learn when, how, and why to use "Focus Vision" to give you the edge in every situation.

So... I never heard about this Focus Vision? Is it a unknown gameplay feature that's not yet announced? Or is it just something to advertise the guide?

oh btw i do support sonar and shadow vision just to make it clear

hen, how, and why
If Focus Vision is Shadow Vision, which is undoubtedly is, I have lost faith in Ubisoft's faith in our intelligence if we need to know "when" if it's automated, "how" if it's automated, and "why" if it's as obvious as making everything glow in the dark, which it is.

Focus Vision is from the old build, it's not in the new build...Prima is just slow at updating things

It was called Hero Vision in the old build.

HERO VISION in the old 07 build involved Hobo-Sam being able to "instinctively" focus on enemies/guards even when they were surrounded by crowds. The crowd would get "diffused", I believe, leaving the enemies clear and highlighted in red. Hobo-Sam could even detect them coming from around corners. SOunds similar to AssCreed's vision.

It was replaced with Sonar goggles (and sadness).

focus vision is the thing you see when Sam pops up and dose a Execute, were he kinda zooms in on the guy he's shooting, my guess is that it's a manual action that you can do by maybe clicking the "right stick" or something like that, I don't know the complete controller set up but if I hear anything i'll let you know. see in this pic he's not using focus vision,

http://splintercell.us.ubi.com...a/screenshots/12636/ (http://splintercell.us.ubi.com/conviction/#/media/screenshots/12636/)

but if you look at this video at min 4:53 the second guy he's kills he uses focus vision. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kNBqOwEOV8

I highly doubt that's FV, that's just a slow motion stylistic effect achieved by holding down the Execute button.

Besides, it offers nothing to the gameplay but slow it down.

Funny that, whoa with Ubisoft removing hiding bodies, hacking and NVGs cos they slowed down gameplay... and then adding SLOW motion... guess dragging bodies isn't SUPER AWESOME PEW PEW PEW BOOM HEADSHOT cool.

well there is thread thats called "Laser sight problem EDIT: Not a problem" heres a link

That's refferring to manual aiming, there's no point on zooming for M&E, as it's an aimbot.

I swear you're getting confused with the slo-mo execute, which simply slows stuff down and focuses on the hit to look cool.

There was always a ccontradiction in the PR. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif
Look at my sig. I could say this feature is a slow motion and doesn't slow down the gameplay. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

I doubt the folks at Montreal would give the most hackneyed feature in gaming (slow-mo) their own title...then again, they have been boasting about their point-and-click system like it's the second coming of video games.

"Chaos and panic can be overwhelming to a random civilian, but Sam Fisher is a highly trained soldier so at least one mechanic has been put into the game to reflect this. It's called ' focus vision' and it works a bit like a sixth sense. When activated, it allows the player to see where enemies have moved to, even if they're behind a wall or other obstruction. Super spies wouldn't forget that a cop had walked around a corner, even if a player might. "

Focus vision is from the old build, it wasn't called Hero Vision, at least based off of what I know, if you have a link to somewhere where they mention hero vision, then that would be great http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

If focus vision is still in the new build, then it is something different, it could be the ability to see enemies in color when in shadows, but I doubt it.

That part about it in Prima's feature was there when they still had all the old build stuff up, back in 08 or something, so it could just be an out of date mistake.

no no no I know all about the slow down when you do a "execute." in singleplayer it just looks cool, but in multiplayer it gives the other player a chance to join in on the "execute." http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Focus vision is not a feature in the current Conviction. It's a failure to update on Prima's part.

The slowdown before a Coop execute was dubbed the "Window of Opportunity" by Patrick Redding.
:Source: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJvLCFHWXMw)

Initiating the slo-mo execute is done by holding down the Y button when executing.

None of this is focus vision. Mesotie posted what it was in the '07 build.

Mystery solved.

"Sam also has the cringe worthily-named but useful ability of Hero Vision, which again echoes Assassin's Creed by fading out everything on screen apart from important things like the police, visible even through scenery."

I'm pretty sure that the "focus vision" there talking about (in the guide) is just clicking the "right stick" which go to a "over the shoulder" view here some videos check them out then tell me what you think. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
heres one.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkFuv3Qb76o

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoDe_AW2L2w

look at 0:32 Sam's in "focus vision" but at 0:36

Thanks for that, I assume they must of had two names for that same thing, Focus and Hero Vision. I have never seen that article before, nor heard it called that, thanks http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The prima thing might still just be a mistake, since Hero vision was also called Focus Vision. Either that, or it is just the right stick thing or something.

Then again, no one has mentioned it in any of the current build demos, so I think its just a mistake.
