Okay,so I've given into my baser wants and have fallen in love with "Mud-Moving".ALL ground attack aircraft. It ain't easy, but its satifying listening to people cry and whine when they get bombed.

Anyway.Problem.What is the freaking deal with escorting a dang bomber people?Hmm http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
When I fly,I ask for fighter cover and what do I get?....Nothing....People around here talk so highly about teamplay and all that garbage, yet as a bomber pilot,I see nothing of the sort!?!?!
So...With that being said, where are all the good servers with some solid teamplay and with people that realize that their pathetic fighter plane ain't gonna win the war,but my and my fellow Mud-Mover's bombers http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif ?

Meh, thats why I only fly with squadmates in DF servers, that and because my connection is no longer on par with the needs for PF. When I used to fly WC, I rarely got an escort, Greatergreen had some pilots that didnt mind escorting(all you had to do was ask), now that was some fun times. I haven't visited GG for some time though, miss it alot.

I like to escort bombers as I frequently fly as a bomber myself.

Unfortunately, it is a difficult proposition as you need to keep an eye out for two peoples aircraft. And more to the point, once you have two fighters gunning for the bomber it becomes difficult as the fighter to keep both off. Special talent, some luck, and the right type of aircraft.

But your right, most average servers are filled with point scoring dogfighting lone wolfs with no interest in teamplay.

My current bomber favorite is the A-20G...the best thing to do is not ask for any fighter escort and fly through hills, valleys, and between mountains right down there in the mud avoiding any prying eyes.

Only works on the closed cockpit servers tho...

Warclouds Western Front has increased the time so that you either go for the targets or lose when on offense. I highly recommend getting on the Teamspeak comms and asking for help. I've been involved in coordinated attack runs as well as flying cover for you bomber boyz.

I think the reality is that if you expect much in the way of teamplay on DF servers(especialy if your red) you are out of luck.

Personaly, I spend the better part of every weekend escorting. Usually Sturmoviks, but others as well. I'm in the DF servers for one reason only. Gunnery practice. Most people, no matter what you hear here, just want to shoot things. They don't hop onto a DF sever to fly escort.

If your serious about bombing, join a war. Late night (US) on HyperLobby, check out CAD or VOW2. There is always room for bomber pilots. I can assure you that if you join a mission hosted by CivilDog, we in the mighty 58th will be happy to escort you.

Cheers

Because most want to be the "Sky Captain of Tomorrow"....the big hero flying solo who saves the world by killing them all by themselves...(not to mention points)...

vs.

Flying the mission you're supposed to be.

Oddly they miss out on the BEST parts. Those being having bait to tempt in those sharks. A hypnotic watch to daze those sharks with that assures target fixation hoping to get the kill before they run. Also being near the target the whole other side is looking for (who wants to tangle with a superior fighter when you can slaughter bombers like so many ants under a magnifing glass).

Lastly they forget that when they call for help and no one comes a running, it may be because the bomber pilots are now in fighters after being shot down all night, so why now save their mangy butts unless it is an easy kill.

Escorting bombers just as juicy for kills as hunting them, often more so http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I think it depends what time you go on. I've saved many a B-25 by taking out a 109 or 190 on it's six while flying escort...but if you look at my stats, that was before my two-month lay-off http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

But I remember about two-months-ago joining a huge flight of bombers with a group of escorting fighters at an altitude (for the fighters) of 27,000ft. We flew away from the target, and then when altitude was reached headed back to the target in a formation of bomber with fighter cover.......was a truly wonderful event.

If you're online, and I'm there I'll cover you Hydra...cheers, Puma.

Well, right now,my HyperLobby seems to be acting up.But,I will take you up on the offer http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif Thx mate.

Also, one of the probs might also be that not only have I decided to be a dedicated bomber pilot, but also I'm FINALLY moving towards the "full-switch" stuff.Doing well, but my nav skills leave something to be desired http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Yes,I have noticed a VERY different take on team play between flying Red and Blue. When I fly blue,I like taking the Stuka.Often more than not,I make it to and from the target without anything but some flak hits. The Blue flyers seemingly cuttin a swath through the Reds for me to fly through....Now...When I fly Red (which I prefer),my best bet is to stick low and haul *** to my target, strike it,then get the hell out before anyone knows I was there. It is very frustrating sometimes when I look up through the canopy of my A-20 and see Reds just flyin aimlessly around while I am gettin hammered and telling my "team-mates" my exact location and sit-rep.All I have to say is thank God the A-20 can take kicking http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

About these online wars.Where do I find them?I have been interested in gettin involved in one since I left my squadron.
