I still like CallOfDuty more.

MOHAA still feels so quaky. You run across the whole level at hyperspeed and still, you can jump off a church tower, shooting the enemy's right ear off, with a BAR and land with just loosing 30 pts health.

If I want Quake, I play Quake.

Don't get me wrong, played MOHAA a lot, but I was really dissapointed by that last addon. The "new" maps were from single player or third party and they sold it for a full addon. The only map newly created and playable in the demo wasn't in, LOL.

Definately!

Joint Operations looks REALLY promising and I just recently got my hands on an ingame-video from Battlefield: Vietnam. WOW!

Just a hint: They built the Comanche-Physics into the JointOperations, for the helis /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I am also interested to see, what MOH/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif acific Assault will be like! I hope it meets my expectations and uses the new setting and gameplay for more realism.

All right, another fellow HD2 fan! I was a huge fan of the original and I have patiently waited for over three years for this and it looks like its finally going to be released this winter! The new website is live and it looks FANTASTIC! After the smash hit Mafia, I'm hoping that Illusion can get rid of the bugs after such a superb example of a PC game. COD does look awesome but the animations seem so cartoony at times. Still, can't wait. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I too am an old HD fan, I like the ability of controlling 4 players, setting up a fire team and sending in some sucker to draw fire. I liked the iron sites in the first game, seems COD brought that back, more realistic, like Americas Army. Been playing that one latelyas well, just hate having to wait 10 minutes if I screw up and get killed too early.

I downloaded the BREAKTHROUGH multiplayer demo (on dialup!) and it's pretty good. The playmode I like best is "liberation", I do well at that one. Runs smooth also, and looks pretty nice.

Did you guys ever hear of Full Spectrum Warriors?

WOW.

It was initially planned for X-Box, but it will be converted for PC, too.

It's not a FPS, but a tactical game, but the graphics and the game depth is stunning. There are some videos of the game here:

Go, check them out /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I only like two kinds of shooters. One's with lots of action or one's that are more like shooting simulators.

Operation Flashpoint
Halo - For XBox
Brute Force - Sort of tactical Halo for XBox
Global Operations - Well it's just neat.
SOF II - Most people will deny any realism but they did their homework making this game.

I played Medal of Honor the original on Playstation and it was fun. However the guns are pretty messed up, and I say that from a having shot most of them or similar weapons IRL.
The grenades act nothing like a real grenade.

Oh yeah and if you want tactical try the new "Enemy Territory" mod for Return to Castle Wolfenstein. It's free and as far as online tactical play goes I don't think it gets any better when it comes to forcing team work.

XyZspineZyX

i still have moh installed on my comp. never had a game installed so long other than il2. moh was a great game, but it does feel dated, especially if you have tried the cod demo.

I played the original CW a LOT and was eager to wait what RTCW would look like.

Actually it was a major dissapointment. At least, when I faced the first E.T. in the game. They ruined the cult, IMHO.

Besides that, I played it on several LANs, until I found out how to hit with the sniper rifle: You just have to get the enemy in the sights, and you'll hit for sure, no matter if you shoot in his path or behind him. I verified this serveral times and they all called me a cheater, cause I ruled with that weird sniper rifle.
Besides that, the GP was rather... weird with those airstrikes. We had several games in several maps, but it never really got something like tactics. We more or less met on a street, someone threw a smoke gren and all blew up, friendlies and enemies, just to respawn, run there again and blow up again, shortly after that.

I managed to see the demo for it while I was at the E3 show and I must say it was looking very good. Another game which looks promising is Soldner - Secret Wars, here is the link to site:

Probably end of November. I am waiting with baited breath myself. MOHAA has always been my favorite. The original that is. The addons look rushed and aren't nearly as immersive as the original. COD has the same immersive feel of the original MOHAA.

Your wrong on the Sniper rifle for Enemy Territory. I've missed when the sights where on target. I've had to lead far away targets. If they're close enough you don't have to lead them running your just about too close for a scope.
Bullets in real life fly really fast like supersonic fast. With a hi-powered rifle in fact when you pull the trigger by the time you hear the gun go boom the bullet has already struck the target unless it's 300+ yards away.

The sniper rifle also only kills with a head shot unless you shoot them multiple times.

As long as we aim & walk & turn with mouse, FPS sucks.

If I want to shoot, I go shooting range or arcade center.

I can't find any similarity between real gun shooting and mouse handling. Bread + backsight aiming with right mouseclick is its climax. WTH? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

However, I've been big Quake, CS, MOH fan for years. Not anymore.

edit: spelling.

I like the MOH series.Good fun on a cheat free server.

I wonder if they will finally give the Brits a Brengun instead of foisting the BAR on us? Saw the PIAT,however I despise rocket wusses!

I must admit COD is very high on my "must get" list!!

I downloaded the COD demo a few hours ago and it is pretty good. Still a pure arcade game, but atleast it has gunsights intead of MOHAA's dinky little crosshairs in the middle of the screen. Those who claim there is no point in FPS games, when it comes to shooting itself you're right. I once saw a target shooter sim and busted out laughing at the obsurdity of it. FPS games really arn't about the shooting, they are about tactics.

At the start of WW2 the German army lacked experienced anti-aircraft gunners. The average gunner was so bad that the USSR decided to help them out. They did it by forcing some of their pilots to fly I-153 flak magnets. These planes were slow but very sturdy. This allowed German anti-aircraft gunners to get a large amount of target practice on a relatively small number of planes. Thanks to the Soviets help, by the end of the war the German anti-aircraft gunners were amoung the best in the world.</center>

Right, I agree. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

FPS should be called FPT or CQBsim.

I loved that 'war of nerves', not 'war of click'.
