floatplanes, amphibians whatever really. Theres just something so classy about them. The novelty factor of being able to land on water is also great hehe. The zero with floats is awesome fun online http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Heres to BOB having a flyable Short Sunderland!

Oh man what I'd do for a flyable PBY as well

Agreed, its too bad we don't have more than just the Rufe as flyable. Water takeoffs and landings are fun; and they seem to be modelled very well.

I assume you have tried my Rufe campaigns? Not really historic, but fun nonetheless.

In my opinion, this is the most fascinating and beautiful of all seaplanes:

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y1/Skarphol/Do26P5DF.jpg

The Do-26. Only 6 built, 3 of them destroyed in Norway during Unternehmen Weserübung.
Two of them was sunk while moored in a fjord in Northern Norway, so they should in theory be quite complete.

Some time ago someone did (per my request) a Rufe skinned as a Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk. Great skin that opens some possibilities for a US Seaplane campaign.
If needed, I can send it to anyone interested. PM me if ya want it.

Cheers

On a side note, I always thought that Blohm & Voss had some really awesome seaplanes.

Nice, I see many seaplane-lovers. I am a bit partial to Cutter's Goose myself.

Looking foward to the BOB seaplane set. Hopefully some cool rescue missions in the campaigns. For and Against. Let's hope for a flyable.

I hope the Walrus is flyable - it was one of my requests along with the He-59.

Here are some more ... floatplane oddities you may not have seen before.

A flying boat converted to ski landing gear.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/WaldoPepper/floatplane%20oddities/untitled0.jpg

A B-10 Bomber on floats.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/WaldoPepper/floatplane%20oddities/untitled1.jpg

A Grumman Goose with bizarre hydroplane extensions.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v516/WaldoPepper/floatplane%20oddities/untitled2.jpg

And lastly a Dakota on floats. The floats actually have wheels extended and the plane beaches itself, and then runs up the ramp in this video sequence.

Cool! That's a schweet screenie from Olli72, a screenshot art master, IMHO. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Him and BananaBob are my all-time favorites. Check them out at Screenshot Art Gallery (http://www.screenshotart.com/index.php?autocom=gallery&req=sc&cat=3)
