Just ran across a reference to what would seem to be a great resource for those of us who like to fly the Stuka in FB - a 1941 German film about the invasion of the Soviet Union by Karl Ritters called "Stukas" - there is a description/mention of it (with what appears to be a picture of the movie poster) at this link:

http://www.return2style.de/swingaring/filme.htm#stuka

However, after some searching I have been unable to locate any indication as to whether any copies of the movie have survived and might be available from anywhere. Anybody here have any idea about where/how to find this?

Wir sind die schwarzen Husaren der Luft,
Die Stukas, die Stukas, die Stukas.

... "Stuka-Lied"

Interesting post.
I found a very good downloadable .wav file of "Das Stukalied" but it has got to be the corniest melody the nazis produced.

Lyrics are pretty awesome though-
"We fear not Hell and give no peace.........the Stukas, the Stukas, the Stukas."

I should say!

Did you try amazon.com? I'll bet someboday has to have a copy of the film.

Even if some copies of this movie have survived, I am doubtful that they will be freely available, since from what I read in the description it is focused very heavily on Nazi propaganda, which is not surprising if you look at the date of the movie.

I don't know about that - I've been downloading a bunch of German WW2-era tunes for play on "Radio Wehrmacht" while I'm tooling around in FB, and there are several others I've heard that might seriously contend for that "corniest melody" title.

Yeah - tried Amazon early and got a bunch of results for "stakes" (they didn't have anything in VHS or DVD with "Stukas" in it so gave me "stakes" as the closest they had - a bunch of high stakes Vegas videos, LOL)

I would try amazon.de, but even if they have it in Germany they probably won't let anybody buy or sell it (since they seem to have outlawed most stuff like this), and it doesn't seem like something that is likely to have been made available on a commercial basis generally.

However, I've seen some pretty obscure videos of niche interest (like my VHS of a Hitler speech collection, which has provided some interesting snippets for "Radio Wehrmacht" in FB to break in on its musical programming for a brief word from the Fuhrer), so I was hopeful that somebody somewhere might have published this Stukas movie as part of some historical interest series or something, but my searches are picking up nothing so far.
