I just transfered to Bordux and got a brand new IXD2. When I loaded the mission the sub starts in the concrete bunker. The stern of the boat is stuck in the back of the sub pen and the whole boat shudders and shakes eventully sinking the U-boat. What do I do? I have tried restarting the mission to no avail. What a horrible bug, I can't continue my campaign.

Well now,
I've heard of this bug but as i rarely use a typeIX i've never seen it myself.
There are people here who know much more than me about it i'm sure, but i don't remember hearing any way around it except avoiding that base and sub combination. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

I think the solution is to installl the IUB or RUB mods. I haven't played the game with an IXD2 for a long time now but when I used that sub before I am sure I was running IUB 1.02 at the time and I had no trouble with the boat being stuck in port.

I think the problem lies in the start co-ordinates of the boat, basically the boat is so long that it's start co-ordinates are probably for a much smaller uboat hence the reason it's stuck in the pier.

Persoanlly I'm not sure I could play the game anymore without adding the IUB mod - it improves the game no end, so it's worth looking into.

Indeed, it is related to the start coordinates. You need to go in an edit the save game file so that your ship starts in a position that doesn't put it in the wall. Try doing a search for this on the forum here and look up the many other threads on this, I'm sure one of them will have a correct set of coordinates to put in, in addition to what files to edit.

The problem with the typeIX/D2 being stuck into the rear wall at Bordeaux,can be rectified by changing the longitude and latitude of the naval base.

Open up file;
SilentHunterIII/data/Campaigns/Campaign/Campaign_LND.MIS
This can be opened up using notepad'look for

[Unit 36]
Name=Bordeaux
Class=NavalBase
Type=407

Long=_103695.000000
Lat= 5447206.000000
Heading= 0.000000
