Does anybody know how the petition campaign to save U-534 is going? How many signatures have been collected?

I've not heard any more news for a week or so, since this press article (http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0100regionalnews/tm_objectid=16671036%26method=full%26siteid=50061-name_page.html). Did you guys catch this previous post I made?

I sent an e-mail to Bill (the gentleman who is running the petition) to let him know that members of this forum, subsim.com forum and uboat.net forum have signed their support. He has asked me to thank all of you who have signed http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Bill has now updated the petition news page (http://www.mylostoppos.com/petition/latest.htm) (scroll to the bottom of the page).

The museum closes tomorrow (5th February), but there is still hope yet of saving U-534 from being scrapped.

Please tell your friends and family about the petition so hopefully they will want to sign too http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'll e-mail Bill again soon to see if he has any more news.

Oh I forgot to mention I found some more info on U-534's history:

- Background (http://www.u534.coolfreepages.com/U534_background.htm) (more detailed than other accounts I've read...)
- This page (http://www.u534.coolfreepages.com/U534_black_and_white/U534_black_and_white.htm) has some good photos of the salvage operation.
