This makes me sick.

I was in this airplane two years ago, and talked to the guy who flew it.

Terrible, sad news.

That's a real tragedy; I really feel for the families. It's a shame the '111 is a total loss. I'd seen so many pictures of that particular aircraft, and now it's gone...I always wanted to see it in person./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

(btw,it was a Spanish-built He-111 with Merlin engines,wasn't it?)

There is actually a He-111 being restored right now, super secret. It is supposed to be Paul Allen's He-111 being restored somewhere near Arlington. I volunteer time at the Paine Airfield restoration center, and talked to one guy who is on the project. Don't know if it will be restored to flying condition, but there will be at least one more restored fully.

This is Washington State, btw.

S! to the crew for avoiding more loss of life and putting her down in a less populated area. A terrible tradgedy that that they had to lose their lives.

I bet the construction worker who got away unharmed can't beleive his luck.

How sad! Poor people.
I saw this plane at an airshow at Deervalley airport(Arizona) in 98. She was a beautiful sight when she took off slowly gaining altitude. My camera was loaded with black and white film, and i got some good shots, the pictures looked like they were taken 60 years ago!
This is really sad.

Thats very sad /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif . My condolonces to their family and friends. I've seen a He111 which could not fly at RAF Hendon, but its really sad that the last flyable He111 has gone. Of course, not nearly as sad as the death of everyone on board.

If you type "! S" without the space, I think all the text after is "S"triked out. And it's ashame about the He-111 and it's crew. It's one of the most beautiful bombers ever designed, IMHO.

I just wonder which one is the saddest, the loss of a historical aircraft or 2 people flying it dying? I'm sorry of course the people who died are more important.

I still recall when a Lancaster flew right over my place when I was a kid at low altitude but that loss is a double tragedy.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

A somber hail to my brothers in mourning. We, the bomber brotherhood, salute the spirit of the last remaning flyable 111 and hope that in it's destruction the bond of the virtual online bomber force will forever be kindled by the memorys and fighting heart of the mighty Heinkel. ~S~
