Well, I've been getting back into FB offline flyign again, and I noticed what seems to be an interesitng little quirk of USAAF aircraft in the game.

I've mostly been flying group furballs, with a wide variety of aircraft, but I've noticed that I seem to end up with a much lower percentage of the total kills, when my side is flying in USAAF fighters.

I just finished up a fight in a group of P-40Ms verses a flight of Fw-190A-4's. While our side downed all four 190's with no losses to ourselves, I only claimed one of the kills.

The previous flight my group was a wing of P-47D-10's vrs Bf-109K-4s. We destroyed all four 109's, to one loss on our side. Yet, I took none of the kills.

Now compair that to the two previous flights, 109K-4's vrs Yak-3's, and 190A-8's vrs Yak-3's. In the 109 flight, we took down all four Yak-3's to one loss to ourselves, but this time I scored three of the kills. In the 190 flight, we scored four down to no loss, but I took all four kills.

It was the same level AI on all flights, and AI weakness at BnZ fighting is somewhat nullified by the fact that the pattern is reflected reguardless of whether the aircraft are TnB or BnZ types. The only constant seems to be the armament of the aircraft.

It seems to me that machine gun based armament has a tendancy to "spread the kills around", so to speak, with the most skill pilot likely starting the damage, and the less skilled wingmen finsihing off the job. Conversely, with aircraft armed with heavy cannon, seem to concentrat the kills on the most skilled pilot and gunner of the squadron, with the rest fo the flight mostly serving to keep the other guys busy, while the ace gets in postition for the kill.

Those are just my thoughts on it. Anyone else have any ideas?

Hmm, I've seen similar things in Extreme_Ones USAAF campaign. I always used to get kills in my German campaigns, sometimes 3 or 4 per sortie. In the USAAF campaign, I do good to get one per sortie. Most interesting is the fact that the AI wimgmen can saddle up behind even a Fw190 and knock him down with the first burst, while I mainly manage to kill a 190A after 3 or more passes.

My aim isn't brilliant of course, but I always have done fine in the Luftwaffe planes, so at least I "tend" to be able to hit what I aim at.
