How many of you given the choice would rather have the Mig Alley version over BOB?

I am getting a bit "played out" on ww 2 are you? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I mentioned it many times in the past. I feel a bit confused on the decision of creating BoB and in that way "killing" the IL-2 series, when there is a significant gap in simulators from the end of WW II until the modern area ('80s until today). Who wouldn't want to try planes like the F-84,F-86,MiG-15,F9F etc.?I wonder why this insistence with WW II. I see that there are online servers of the 1.22 version of IL-2FB, because there are people that they STILL using and enjoy the IL-2FB 1.22!!!!!!!!! So why this anxiety to throw 4.08?? People will be slow to switch, unless a significant number of planes, missions etc. will be available.Il-2 is so much fun (even now that I have FSX yes it sooooo fun) that I don't care about the graphics of the clouds or the dynamic weather etc. but after giving a try on F-80 and MiG-9 on 1946 I am so curious to know how is to fly a MiG-15 and an F-86! Oleg you thought something wrong here... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/1072.gif

Let's see.Good luck. I hope that it will be a add-on that can be attached to all the rest, but complete in its own way, not just throw 1-2 planes (like the Pe-2 add on).In any case, these are good news.

As far as I know all SoW engined titles will be stand alone rather than add-ons, as was Pacific Fighters in the Il-2 series. Of course, the amount of work required for each model means the number of flyable aircraft will perhaps be more limited than some of us simmers might like but will Project Galba be just be a Mig-15/F-86 study? I don't think so myself. But, as you say, we shall have to wait and see, the proof being in the pudding.

Same here. I want to see a well done and realistic, Korea sim made with a modern engine. I never got the chance to try out MiG Alley, but it looked/looks kick butt for an older sim.

I'm looking forward to Project Galba. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I have "mig alley" and the cockpits on the mig and f-86 looks pretty darn good still. The planes REALLY need to be improved. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif They are tolerable but that's it. The Ai is really pretty darn good which seems to be a speciality of Rowan products.

What I love about the game STILL is it's SPEED.. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

everything happens so much faster and really gets your attention.

One really is much more involved in it...

Shockwave has talked about a re-release of MiG Alley. They wanted to get simmers opinions about doing it recently.

I think there is only one 1.22 server on HyperLobby and I haven't seen numbers in there for months if not over a year. So most people have moved on http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I doubt IL-2 1946 will go anywhere after Battle of Britain is released and they aren't going to kill anything. We can play whatever we want. But its obvious to me that the IL-2 engine is very very very long in the tooth now. Its development comes from the mid to late 1990s and while its aged extremely gracefully I think its definitely time for the new engine. The new engine means that we loose the content we have now and it will take some time to get it back.

I think Battle of Britain is the logical place to start chronologically as well as introducing the new technology as the battle is over a somewhat limited geographical area and the time period has a definitive beginning and end point. I do hope and expect to see Battle of Britain stay the summer of 1940 scenario that it is for only a very short time. I think we'll be expanding the horizons with allot of new content after that. If its done the way I think it will be...we'll be able to drop Korea, and the Mediterranean, and Bomber Command, and Normandy to Victory or whatever scenario they want to develop right in to the game after that and they can just unlock the game engine features to utilize carriers and twin engine, four engine, complex engine setups, etc.

I just hope they planned far enough ahead.

And that's what gets me about jets - WWII dogfights go pretty fast, but the speed you get with a jet... Combine that with machine guns and cannons and remove any missiles, and you've got quite a fight.

Jets blow.

Props rule.

Give me BoB/ early France & Low Countries/ Poland/ Western Desert & MTO or even Spanis Civil War and I'd be much happier.

It is quite nice!, i love the MIG-15 a really cool jet, and the model is quite advanced, not that i have flown a real one http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
but it feels that way anyway, you can push eavery button in the cocpit for example and it have a funktion http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You might get a bit bored just flying around and having all that fire power and no Sabre to shoot down, but the MIG is just beutiful to look on and dream over http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blush.gif

btw: if you have a friend you could download a F-86 from simviation etc and have a mock dogfight http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif you still have tracerfire!

I think most people here are Prop heads and enjoy that type of combat. It allows my (old) eyes time to pick up threats and react to them. This won't stop me from buying the Korean war sim based on the SOW engine, but I doubt it will get as much air time as BOB and beyond. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
