The book "Graf & Grislawski: A Pair of Aces" is out, and ready for immediate delivery! First impression by Mr Alfred Grislawski and his wife, Mrs. Alfred Grislawski, who saw the printed book for the first time today: It is "ganz toll" in German - or, in English, "just great." Just hope that everyone else will think so too... (I haven't seen it myself yet.)

"Graf & Grislawski: A Pair of Aces" is the dual biography on the two Luftwaffe fighter aces Hermann Graf and Alfred Grislawski. It has been written in cooperation with Alfred Grislawski. Large U.S. format, 312 pages, high-quality printing on glossy paper, a. 300 photos, 25 color profiles by Claes Sundin.

The Graf & Grislawski website has opened up cooperation with the artist behind Cpt Farrel's high-quality skins for aircraft used in the well-reputed computer flight simulator game IL-2/Forgotten Battles. Author Christer Bergstr√¬∂m and Oleg Maddox, Lead Designer of IL-2/Forgotten Battles, have cooperated in exchange of information for many years.

For this reason, we are proud to announce that now one of the best artists for high-quality skins for aircraft used in IL-2/Forgotten Battles, has opened up cooperation with the Graf & Grislawski website. A new Graf & Grislawski page has been started on Cpt Farrel's IL-2 Forgotten Battles Skins site. What you can see there is the start of a possibility to bring IL-2/Forgotten Battles closer to events portrayed in the book Graf & Grislawski: A Pair of Aces. Users of IL-2/Forgotten Battles already now can freely download and fly Bf 109s with the camouflage and markings of some of the aircraft flown by Hermann Graf and Alfred Grislawski, in realistic theaters. An informal review states that Cpt Farrel's skins are "the most authentic skins available."

The Graf & Grislawski page on Cpt Farrel's IL-2 Forgotten Battles Skins site will be expanded through the addition of more skins--based on Claes Sundin's profiles in the book. It is also planned to create and add full missions based in detail on events portrayed in the book "Graf & Grislawski: A Pair of Aces". We will keep you updated when there are more updates on the Graf & Grislawski page on Cpt Farrel's site.

Bavaria is one of the oldest European states.
It dates back to about 500 A.D., when the Roman Empire was overcome by the onslaught of Germanic tribes. According to a widespread theory, the Bavarian tribe had descended from the Romans who remained in the country, the original Celtic population and the Germanic invaders.

Gurra Z, Real Hondo & everyone else: I'd love to hear your opinion on the Graf & Grislawski book. I'd really appreciate if you'd drop me an e-mail on it when you've read through it. As mentioned, I haven't yet seen it myself. Only read it... ;-)

Von Hoffmann, the Graf & Grislawski book's publisher, Eagle Editions, will do "Black Cross/Red Star" Vol. 3 before next summer. Then, if everything goes well, and if they judge the interest to be sufficiently large, they will consider doing a second edition of "Black Cross/Red Star" Vol. 1. In that case, it will be a significantly revised second edition, with new and updated info and photos, much better printing quality, colour profiles by Claes Sundin (and probably also by Tom Tullis), etc. The first volume of "Black Cross/Red Star" is sold out, and seems tp be very hard to obtain anywhere. In any case, it seems to be much sought after by lots of people.

Red Spar, I know that an airfield in the USA and an old senior Soviet aviation commander carries/carried the same name as you mention.

m Preddy, so do I. ;-)

Anyway, for all of those who like the "Black Cross/Red Star" series, I can say that I started working on the Graf & Grislawski book with the intention of doing some kind of deepened study within the BC/RS series. Ultimately, the Graf & Grislawski book outgrew that suit. But to some extent, it still can be regarded as a deepened study within the same subject as the BC/RS series. Just like in BC/RS, I portray both sides of the air combats. Much of what you miss when you don't have BC/RS Vol. 1 can, in fact, be found in the Graf & Grislawski book. After all, most of Graf's and Grislawski's victories and aerial combats were fought on the Eastern Front.

All best,

Christer Bergstr√¬∂m

"Ordered my copy of "Graf & Grislawski"..."

As I said to other people here, I'd really appreciate to hear the opinion on the book from some of you guys here. And I can forward those comments to Alfred Grislawski.

Bogus, you will eventually be able see the whole series of "Black Cross/Red Star" books on your bookshelf. It is up to you.

There's a new article on my Graf & Grislawski website - a biographical article on the "Mustang killer" Ludwig-Wilhelm Burckhardt, who served together with Alfred Grislawski in the Home Defense and over Normandie in 1944. See:

http://www.graf-grislawski.elknet.pl/

There's an IL-2/FB skin of Burckhardt's "Mustang killing" Bf 109 G-6/AS on Capt. Farrel's excellent skins website. You can find a link to Capt. Farrel's website on the "Art and Models" page on my "Graf & Grislawski" website.

All best,

Christer Bergstr√¬∂m

PS: Bogun, I like the quotation from Tom Clancy: "The difference between fiction and reality? Fiction
has to make sense." That really struck me when I was writing the "Graf & Grislawski" book. I would never have dared using some of those stories in a WW II aviation fiction book. Fortunately, there is evidence to prove that some of the stories in the "Graf & Grislawski" book actually took place.

he wake up in hospital.
doctor told him to put it away, but mr. Grislawski
said:" no, i will keep it here, waited to long for it".
his health values were going up when he saw the first
book :-)
at least Mr W√¬§gernbauer told us the story this way.

It's very cool we have some in this Community who are also dedicated to preserving history as remembered by the veterans of the War. These veterans will not be with us forever so it is important that works such as Graf & Grislawski are written to preserve their memories for the future. Thank you Mr. Bergstr√¬∂m.

To be honest JG52 isn't my area of interest so I'll have to see if I order the book, but judging from BC/RS I can only assume it's top notch again.

BTW can I make a request for future BC/RS volumes? If possible please try to include OOB tables. It would help researching and creating correct unit sets for FB.

You'll find that in "Black Cross/Red Star", Vol. 3.
