Anyone care to comment on whether or not the draw distance for new smoke, fire, and light effects will be increased?...has anyone heard any discussions on this or another board about it?

Is it important enough to a majority? or are most people concerned more with FM's and new maps/planes...?

For what its worth, Oleg....I think it is critical from an immersion aspect - to be able to do some damage in a bombing mission and then to be able to see that fire and smoke from a distance....a real cause/effect dynamic that is lacking from the bombing campaign standpoint.

Smoke good for daylight navigation too.

Smoke must be visible from 20km. If they worry about grafix performance, they can make simple Static Smoke...not moving. You don't see smoke moving from 10km or 20km. This can work.

They can make non-moving Static Smoke much larger, top at 5km altitude (say, bombed oil refinery) -- both black and white Static Smoke. White Static Smoke cloud can be raised into the air and be placed as towering cumulus clouds.

This cloud is (rough Guess) about 20-30 kilometers away from photographer, and maybe about 4-5 kilometers or so high. Note the Static Tree Object in photo, demonstrating the cloud base is low in sky, but the top is fairly high in the sky.

Yes - Campaign builders would love to use new improved smoke and flame effect as part of 'destruction' from previous mission...

static large 'formations' of smoke would be better than the short range version currently available, especially if visible from 10-20km

ive got a coop, where i put in marker fires and smoke, as a sort of bomber command mission, for training really.
from 22000ft i think, u see the fires just as u drop bombs, sometimes before, sometimes after, but within 20secs i guess.

there useless for target marking, at historic bombercommand heights, well, 21000ft was standard height i think

i think u can see the old airfield campfire or whatever from along way off

and yes, bigger smoke is needed
