Yeah, it took 7 hits to take one down, normally i use 2 magnetic and they go down, but this one took 4 magnetic and 3 impact, the last one did it, directly abeam. And even i noticed him sitting even lower in the water than he was it took another 15 min for him to go capsize and go down, oh yeah i have realistic sinking times off too. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Seven Torps for a C2 !!

That is the most I have ever heard of LOL.
I bet you were realy niffed at expending so many torpedoes for a C2.

Maximum I have fired into a single ship was 4 torps again into a C2 and after it completely stopped dead in the Sea it stayed afloat for ages..So I watched it and slowly and I mean slowly LOL it finaly crept beneath the waves.

thts in fact too much for a C2! where were you aiming at? took me only a torp to sink one with realistic off. 2 for realistic sinking time.

Yeah, some of those merchants were filled with ping-pong balls. The idea was invented by a French naval officer who had stocks in the torpedo making industry. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

That was just the ones that actually werent duds. I think i had 4 duds due to bad angles on impact and setting the torp to run too shallow (because she was sitting lower in the water than usual) I think she was empty so being lighter helped and that combined with the points of impact probably helped. The two first shots were magnetic under the keel in the stern which stopped her. The next two impact were in the bow port side. Two more magnetic under the keel amidships and my last torpedo in my stern tube was an impact directly in the middle of her port side. If that last torpedo didnt sink her i would have lost my mind haha. Even then, she took a good 20 minutes to capsize and go under.

So why is it I have never sent more than two shots at a C2 for it to go down, and usually get away with one shot?

Aragorn was unlucky....that's why.

I put 8 torpedos into a converted Passenger Liner once. Only to have it mock me and limp away on one shaft. 3 magnetics forward, amidships, and aft. 4 impacts two forward one amidships and one aft that destroyed the port screw.

how exatly does one aim for a specific part of the ship? i tried hitting the lock button to unlock my periscope from the target after i had all the calculations and moving it to a different spot on the ship, but my torpedoes never detonated.

yeah i pumped 2 fish into the bow of a C2 on realistic mode, (my last 2 torps) and he just ran away. Surely 2 torpedos hitting close to each other are bound to tear a big enough hole to sink a ship?

can't guarantee the two in the bow, however, I routinely sink c2's and c3's with one torp to the fuel bunker. Sometimes takes two tries if my AOB is too far from 90

Yeah i think i just had a really bad night, it was shocking. I currently have 5 DDs looking for me in the area and im at 70m silent running and trying to get home being i expended all my torps. im not too sure about the straight anymore being worth it..

i've also noticed sometimes the torpedoes explode prematurely close to the ship, looks like a hit, but its not.

That could have been it too i guess, i mean 7 fish you would think it would sink like a rock haha. I got away and back to port, but i was a cheater and used external veiw while i was running silent because i was bored and wanted to see what the DDs were up to. I saw two Hunt I DDs (i think) and both were listing badly to starboard. (Bad storm out that day) He was listing enough to flood because his engines cut and he stopped smoking. Left to the mercy of the sea they both sunk. I guess The Hunt Is are too small to handle the open water http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif And maj, i was pretty http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif But i kept thinking to myself im not letting this c2 stay afloat after 3 fish, then 4 fish, then 5 fish, etc haha
