My Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold USB has finally given up the ghost. After 3 and a half years of great service it has passed away..............

So, I need some good joystick recommendations. I'm not buying a Couger (the wife won't let me) but other then that I'm open for suggestions!!!

Please, if possible, post pros/cons of your recommendation as well.

Thanks!

I recently purchased a logitech freedom cordless and love it. it's about 450 but is well built and very solid and loads up quick and easy with no interferance problems whatsoever.I've had several in last couple of years and this is the best one by far...

Stick with Saitek Mine still works after over 3 years. Sounds like it did you well also, why go spend more on somthing when it wont perform better than what you already had http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Good point. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I heard that if you buy it at Circuit City and you have trouble then you can just take it back and they'll replace it for you too. Can't beat that!

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

Well I just got my Saitek X45 Joystick and Throttle set in the mail a week or two ago.

I have no complaints so far except that I don't know what I should use half the buttons and programable features for. I seem to be able to get by just fine on just a third of them.

Plus, this joystick would ordinarily cost $80. However, I purchased a "refurbished" one from the Saitek site for just $40, (and FREE shipping untill the end of August!). Saitek can't sell ones that have been returned to them as new, hence they have to sell them as "refurbished."

Well that suited me just fine because they shipped me what is as far as a can tell a brand new $80 Joystick at half price. Plus you not only get the Joystick, but the throttle as well.

All in all, you just get so much more for the $10 extra you pay for the refurbished X45 than the 3D gold. Check it out: http://store.yahoo.com/saitekusa/x45digjoyand1.html

This thing seems pretty rugged, too. Made of solid plastics with rubberized finish, and solid metal bases. Very sturdy feel; I don't think this is one of those cheap pieces of sh*t that will break or crack.

Now, once I figure out what all the different modes and buttons do (or what I should use them for), I'll have no complaints.

I use a Thrustmaster Fox 2 Top Gun Pro SHOCK ( I hate that name!). No complaints here, but I'm going to invest in a pair of pedals instead of the twist handle.
