Recently I've played quick mission in P-47 against H8K1. I've damaged H8K1 so seriously, I thought it's destroyed. But no, plane landed safely on water losing it's tail (few meters behind wings). Three engins were destroyed, last one working but burning. Plane lost also half of right wing and left wing was on fire. Somehow Emily was floating on the water and... nothing. It still didn't count as destroyed!
Is it problem with the game, or am I doing something wrong?

Thats what tends to happen with the floatplanes. It may be heavily damaged but becuase its still floating it not "dead".

This issue is probably related to the definition of "destroyed" planes in this game. It appears that as long as the plane falls on water without explosion, and is still floating, the game tends to consider it alive and does not count it as "destroyed." The same happens even in on-line game and even for ordinary fighter planes, such as F6F etc. This issue often comes up in the on-line servers when they use maps with ocean or lake. Fixing the program code should be easy enough for Oleg's team, I imagine, but maybe there are some more complicated issues in the definition of destroyed planes....

In my mind I claim that as a kill.

Even if it happens to me.

Floaters, especially the H8K1, are tricky as far as registering kills is concered. The H8 is a tough bird, and even when you do enough to bring it down, if the pilot stays aboard he can still put down safely in the water.

There's nothing you're doing wrong, nor is there a technical issue. If you shoot up a floater enough to utterly destroy it, then congrats. If the plane is in tatters, but still puts down safely, then that's just something we'll just have to live with.

The same thing can happen if you shoot down an aircraft over land, but the pilot still belly-lands his damaged mount successfully. However, after a few minutes, the plane will eventually register as a kill.

It's just one of those things... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Tell me about it man, if the bastards survive three flushes I tend to just leave them, they've earned it as far as I'm concerned

Ruthless bastard rule number one: finish the bugger. I have been smashed by burning or smoking AI aircraft enough times to have been converted into a heartless swine. If it isn't in pieces, make it that way. Then give generously to the Salvation Army.

rockets! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

Those buggers are so big, it's hard to miss. While I typically think shooting rockets at another airplane is kinda lame, those Emilys take sooooo much damage, carry torpedos and still shoot back. I'd wager they're almost as (if not moreso) tough than any one of the 4 engined heavies in the game...which HAS to be wrong IMO.

Meh, using rockets is kinda n00bish

If you were pro like me, you would wait until they were landed and then skipbomb them with napalm http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
