Well, the game is coming to the import store here in Japan on Friday or Saturday, so I should have my order on Sunday but if the D/GEN is still faulty (and it sounds like it is) then I don't want it just yet.

The D/GEN has never been the focus of patching and I suspect due preponderance of online only players here that it never will be.

I really would like someone to tell me if, as I have heard, the RAAF Beaufighter campaign is unplayable as the AI planes fly into mountains every time and if the IJN dive bomber campaign starting with Pearl Harbour is unwinnable as the bombs can't damage the battleships.

I too am expecting PF on Friday/Saturday. I`ve seen the Readme, but it doesn`t mention the points you ask about. Apparently, the Campaign is much more dynamic with a win/lose for either side, but again, dunno if this is for both online & offline.

But there`s a point system for destroying ships and battleships/carriers. Something like 1000 for a battleship and 2000? for a carrier.

But logically speaking it would be very silly if a flight sim dealing in ships/carriers could not actually have them destroyable. Of course they will be!

Also, Oleg doesn`t put everything in the Readme, but I will get it hopefully soon and see for sure.

Well, I'm very concerned because of what I have read on this and other boards from people who already have the game. I'm just hoping that someone with a legit copy can verify it for me because I don't want to spend 7,000 yen on something that doesn't work and might not be fixed or even fixable.

I have read that the battleships and carriers are indeed destroyable, but if you fly for the IJN, there are no flyable torpedo bombers available. You can fly the D3 Val dive bomber, but its 250 Kg bombs can't damage US battleships. I have read two different accounts of people playing the dynamic campaign as Val pilots attacking Pearl Harbour. The generator doesn't assign any AI torpedo bombers to the mission and only assigns 6-9 dive bobmers, so none of the ships can be damaged and the mission is always a total failure.

I have read 3 accounts of RAAF Beaufort fighter campaigns and all have said that with EVERY SINGLE MISSION, the AI flight leader leads the entire flight into the side of a hill.

If true, these are very big problems my opinion and I would really appreciate it if someone here could test them out to see if it's true because if it is, I'm going to hold off getting this game until the first patch is out.

I can confirm the WAAF campaign problem, its not really pretty indeed. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I'm hoping for better campaigns and campaign options as well.
I cant imagine 1C not fixing this in the near future, cause its a veru obvious problem.

On the other hand, some other campaigns are really nice, especially the fighter campaigns. (tried the seafire, P-40 and P-39D ones). But ofcourse, I havent had time to check them all out. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif So far, fighting over Pearl Harbor defenitely is a blast!

Thanks. That's discouraging news, but not unexpected. OK, wellI guess I'll cancel my order until the patch and see what happens then.

You sure you should cancel it? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif There's a lot of good stuff in this game man. The WAAF campaign and perhaps that IJN issue are as far as I can see isolated problems. I have also flown the A-20 now and its campaign is nice. The skip function for traveling in time seems to work nicely. So there's defenitely reason to buy this game man. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif These problems will get solved.

I really hope they do get solved, but I thought there were a lot of problems with the D/GEN in IL2FB and ACES as well and they were never fixed.

If they are, I'll surely get it, but I'm not going to buy it on spec. I'd rather use my cash for something else in the meantime.

I don't have the game yet, but if torpedos are available as a loadout there should be workarounds for both problems. Once you've generated the missions you be able to edit the WAAF campaign waypoint altitudes for terrain clearnce and the Pearl Harbour loadouts to add torpedos using the Full Mission Builder. Tedious I know, but at least it'll get you flying more the way it's supposed to be http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

I made a torpedo bomber campaign for the IL-2T. It took me several hundred hours to build as I had to constantly tweak the AI to get them to do what I wanted.

I made 30 missions in all. Each mission is different. I didn't want 30 missions where you takeoff and fly to a predetermined point, drop a torpedo and fly home. Check it out, I think you will find this campaign a nice change from the other campaigns out there.

The comments I have received indicate that people really like it. Caution - go through the readme files to understand what you need to do to get the AI to follow your commands. They will do what you tell them to do if you follow the instructions. Also, keep in mind that torpedo bombing is a group effort. Big ships require a lot of hits to sink. You need the AI to help you sink the big targets.

I may consider making a PF torpedo bomber campaign if people are interested. Let me know what you think of Straight and True.

Check out Straight and True at the link below.

The japanese side with PF just ain't finished.
US side is great with allot of different fighters and bombers&options.

It's just boring to fly on japanese side. No twin engine bombers or torpedo options! Also one of the biggest mistakes with FB/EAP >> no twin bombers on allied/russian side.

For the Japanese side, the Betty wih torpedoes will be available very soon in a patch. It was only left out due to a lack of space on the cd's.

For the allied side the Havoc and the Beaufighter carry torpedoes. With the Havoc and the Mitchell the Russian airforce will from now on have two very capable medium bombers.

as for it not being fixable etc i wouldnt worry
in addition to his ingame official work he always releases the generator as a seperate download.
if its broken he will fix it, unfortunatly i forgot who he is http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Whatever problems the game might have, there will be a patch/fix. There always are. No one supports their creations the way 1C does. Nobody! So regardless of what issues there are, I for one will pick it up as soon as it is released.
