Is there any consensus on the best
(and quietest)card for FB?

A new video card later/better than an X1900/X1950 will make little or no difference to THIS game .Although its a well known fact that up to that point the game had better fps/'faster' with Nvidia cards ....an 8800GT might be nice .If you dont play other games its probably not overstating it much to say you would be wasting your money .I tried my brothers X1950 Pro (slower 256MB version) and thought it LOOKED (Image Quality) better at IL2 than my GTX295.Get a new (Core2Duo) cpu/motherboard and ram and you will notice a much bigger increase in speed in IL2.
OK so all the above presupposes youve probably got an AMD 939/AM2 based PC with maybe a 7800 graphics card ...how good are my mind reading skills!?

My 8800GTS seems fine right now.

I know there are better cards, but I have no problems here.

I have a GeForce GTS 240 1.2 gig GDDR3 and with half a ton of ground pounders and 30 aircraft flying on perfect ... I still get frame rates of 50 or better..

GTS 240 is a Rebranded 8800GT/9800GT for OEM only
