This is a historical campaign flying with the 19th Fighter Squadron of the 318th Fighter Group and their campaign in the Marianas. Fly from Saipan in a P-47D-22 on deadly ground attack missions. Provide close airsupport for the ground forces. Suppress enemy airfields and fly reconnaisance over enemy territory.

I was wondering how everybody was doing with this? Has anyone finished it yet? To easy, to hard, to boring? Any comments welcome.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Thanks for the time putting this together. I have interst in this since my last squad I was in was the 318th. Your first mission, I made a squad mission that had the P-47 taking off the carrier.

I have two missions done so far will comment as I go. I love your briefings.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Hi BH,

I've downloaded it and intend to start it tomorrow.

Initial unedited thoughts:

* I like the promo pic. It has a sense of reality and made me want to try the campaign.

* First thought: "How many missions?" It would be good to have that in the post.

* The campaign folder is called Marianas, but the campaign name is Saipan Thunderbolts. A bit confusing, though I understand that the Saipan is in the Marianas.

* A more dynamic intro vid could have made the build up more exciting - even the same scene from a different angle, like sailing off into the unknown kind of thing. IMHO.

* The text said: "Japan had hopes..." which puts in the past and takes away from the 'here and now' feel which might be be better for anticipation of the upcoming missions. The gut reaction was like "Oh, it's all over so why do I need to fly?". lol.

I don't mean any of the above to sound negative. Again, just unedited thoughts that I thought you might appreciate.

I look forward to the first mission tomorrow. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Were they in the 27th Army National Guard Division?

All comments welcome Nutcase. I can answer some of your question like comments though.
The number of missions is 22, and leaving the number out of the web listings is an oversite on my part. It also has to do with that I might make expansions to it, so it may change. The reason the folder name is marianas is because I started this campaign 2 years ago and then it was called that. I never changed the folder name cause of the videos. The intial video is also older and I lost the set up for it, plus I didn't want to detract from the text in the begining. The ending one is more dynamic though. Not to mention I hate the video set up in this game. Its not a function I care to spend much time on. I rather make missions. Hehe, I agree it does seem a bit anti climatic after the Marianas Turkey Shoot.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
