Am i wrong or the japanese engines are the most cr@p engines in the game? They dont have much power ( all of their planes seem to me "under-powered" ). As i have read somewere many engine types that the japanese used were replicas of german engines ... can this be the reason of the problem with them?

Well, they tended to copy a lot, just like today.

This sim is generally generous to Japanese engines, as for example some of them are modeled with US fuel instead of poor quality Japanese, as well as not suffering reliability problems which real engies suffered.

IMHO, it is accurate. Zero is probably not underpowered for early war standards. In fact, it is very fast and has good climb. In late war it is hopelessly outclassed. Japanese army thought war would be over quickly and no new planes other than Zero were needed. To late they realized the mistake.

Ki 84 is simply great, no underpowering here. You should try the version with low grade fuel then http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

Speed and opwer were never IJA/IJN planes' forte, at least not until late in the war. Ki 44 was the only exception among single engined fighters, to my knowledge.

The Germans made excellent engineshttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

The Ki61 uses a German licensed copy though.

Am I wrong, or was the Ki61 one of the few japanese planes, that could attack the B29´s?
Nevertheless this planes realy use a license DB engine. The DB 601 which were use by the 109 in the Battle of Britain! Maybe this say something about japanese enginges http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Lots of B29 attacks happened at medium altitudehttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

I think there were plenty of Japanese planes that could attack B29's at there optimum height.

Engineproblems because of fuelquality isnt modeled for any side.
There were lots of other problems with the engines from all nations but they aren't modeled either (What I know of). So the japanese aren't better or worse than any other.

Crappy engines? Depends on what u compare with.
Do U mean powerless? Some planes have more , others less. Not exclusively a japanese problem.

Yes, the Japanese copied alot of things back then. I have a 1947 Canon range finder camera thats a nearly exact copy of an earlier German Leica. Despite being a copy, it's a beautifully made piece of equipment. Today, everyone copies the Japanese. If they're smart, anyhow.
