I'd like to fly aircraft in offline campaigns other than those that were made available at release. This involves editing the planes.dat files in the DGen directory.

But I need to know how to find out what all the proper plane ID's are. Does anyone know where I can find an exhaustive list of all the proper plane ID's that DGen uses?

(Right now, I specifically wanna fly the two Hurricanes, but I'll want others later... so I need to find out what they are.)

Thanks!

You can try opening a single mission that has the plane you want in it and copying the name used there. There used to be full lists of the ingame names of planes but I havent come across one post PF. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks, but I think the Hurricane doesn't show up in any existing missions or campaigns. Neither does the P-63 for that matter. I'm sure there are other such flyables that I can't think of off-hand as well.

This is why I'm asking about a generalized way of finding out what the proper plane ID's are.

So, um... Is everyone out there really just as clueless as I am?

Oh man, that's grim... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

There is an updated (or reasonably so, PF) list that has been posted here I believe. You might try a search (with luck it would work). I believe the poster was Mortoma, but my memory fails. It has been in the last 'two weeks' http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

But alas, the search feature does not work on these forums and hasn't for some time now.

I found the user you were talking about but can't find any of his former articles.

Aha!

For all of you who are intently following this thread ( http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif ), I have found out how to solve this problem:

Make a mission with the editor and put any planes you are interested in into the mission. Save. Examine the .mis file with a text viewer. Voila.
