While the record and Play Track feature works very well and is quite useful, I think it can be improved.

For example, the Replay Feature in Micro Flight 5.0 can be started with a single keystroke and quickly adjusted to any point in the recorded flight. Then, you can either replay the flight or start over from that point.

This is very useful for things like practice, movie making, and simply reviewing what has happened. You ca also turn the heads-up display on or off during the replay or even adjust items like the time of day or weather.

A feature like this can only make a super simulator even more useful.

a rewind feature is a must for BoB...

I don't think that rewind is ever going to be an option.....you see you're not recording a movie...other wise you would be stuck with the same viewpoint and unable to swap views and a/c etc.
You are merely replaying the mission...from its start....but using recorded joystick input...instead of new ones

I think it is possible. For example, in Micro Flight 5.0, there is a Replay feature that allows you to back up to a point of your choosing and either replay what happened or start from that point and do it differently. If replaying, you can change the point of view, speed, etc.

I realize that the software engine must be different, but that does not mean it cannot be done in IL2. Anything can be done if the programmers are sufficiently motivated to make it happen. That could be a problem with IL2 as it is relatively old software.

Honestly, if I were doing it, I would be inclined to remake everything from the start, using the latest techniques. The "Look and Feel" might be very similar, but underneath, it would be very different. Who could blame Oleg if he is taking the same approach?

I should have thought of this before. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif I made a short video illustrating what I mean. You can see it at:

http://www.megavideo.com/?v=JT83RJFK

You will notice the Instant Replay panel at the top. This panel can be dragged anywhere on the screen. Notice that the viewpoints can be changed and things like the external floodlight feature turned on and off while playing.

Not that I ever miss an approach, of course, http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif but, if I should, this would enable me to quickly back up and try it again or replay it and see where I went wrong. Not that THAT ever happens, either. LOL
