Captain Rick started on the lowly type IIA in Wil 2 weeks ago....successfully hunted his happy way into upgrading all crew, engines, and even moved into the comfy VIIB. Completed 10 patrols and was moved to Brest.

Captain Rick ran across a gigantic convoy and sonar plotted his way into the front of the oncoming rush. He successfully launched 3 torps into a T3 tanker, but one was a dud. He dogged the convoy from behind but couldn't get past the trailing screen of VWs.

Captain Rick successfully predicted the course of the now severely slowed convoy and spent 2 days making his end around to arrive in front of the convoy for yet a second time.

This time, the destroyer screen was too much and I regret to inform you that Captain Rick and the entire crew was depth charged by a Flower Corvette while sitting at 40 meters all stopped.

RIP Captain Rick, your services were invaluable and a credit to the Silent Service.

I've been sunk by a Flower recently.. No big deal. But thats true, they are major nuisances when they get a hold of you. But you know what's embarassing? being sunk by an armed trawler that drops that lucky DC on your head http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif never happened to me yet thankfully

Haven't died yet ,, knock knock,, but the worst depthcharging i've ever gotten was from a flower corvette, that thing would not let me go and seemed to have an endless supply of DCs, then another ship joined in and I ended up with a dead diesel, all my flaks and deck gun destroyed, tower badly mangled, radar, radio and hydrophone demolished and 6 dead damage control guys yesterday including an officer that i've had from the beginng from 3 months ago that I was emotionally attached to LOL, I guess it showed, my girlfriend asked me to the bathroom and there she had a flower in her hand and in rememberance made me cast it into the tiny sea toilet and flush it LOL, she always ribs me about how engrossed and excited I get playing this but never complains as long as I do my duties. I've figured out that a night out dancing n dining is worth about 2 full patrols of game play.

Being de-flowered is one of the most shameful experiences ever.

Yes, if you are surfaced. The situation here was that he was submerged. Then the corvette has the advantage.

if ur alone with a corvette u can always surface and take op the fight
MAN TO MAN GUN TO GUN

u only gotta hit his front deck and disable his gun then u can sink him peacefully http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif... or as peacefully as passible http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

in the last trainning curse i sunk a corvette with a torp http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif i say nice hit!!!

i 2nd that, after all the bugger's got just one gun on bow, and a boot has a smaller profile, AND u can at least try to surface on his blind
side i.e. stern

US DE's carried about 100 depth charges, I think the Flowers also carried about the same amount (as the war went on). Their other BIG advantage was they could turn sharper than the U-boats, so it was hard to out maneuver them once they got on your tail

Here's the "10 Step Solution to the Flower Question":

Step 1. Run at full flank speed at periscope depth.

Step 2. Set up a stern torpedo at 3.5m with magnetic pistol.

Step 3. Run the same base course at the Flower Corvette.

Step 4. Wait unit the Flower Corvette gets within 1000m of you.

Step 5. Open the stern tube.

Step 6. Wait until the Flower Corvette is within 800m.

Step 7. Fire the torpedo.

Step 8. Dive... Dive... Dive!!! Full dive planes set to 40 degrees down-angle! Release countermeasures at 50m.

Step 9. Listen for a "boom".

Step 10. Wonder if the trade off of one torpedo was worth you saving your rear-end?

*NOTE: Even though this is a "Down the Throat" or "Snapshot", it works. Even with 100% realism applied.
