Not sure what you mean by ".5mm". I'll take a somewhat educated guess.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ..that you mean the 2 engine mounted machine guns of either 7.92 or 13 millimeter caliber?

I would say no. I'll defer to those more intimately knowledgeable, but I recall reading where on the Fw-190 A-5, the outboard cannons delete option provides no performance boost.

Of course I'm basing this on 4.07 or 4.08 perspective. Who knows know?

That's an awfully small caliber. Needles, basically. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

So little difference that it wouldn't be worth the effort. You'll get much more out of reducing your fuel load than you will by firing off all of your 13mm machine gun ammo.

A fairly experienced simmer told me that firing off all the MK108 ammo in the late 109s led to a noticeable or at least measurable speed increase.
One classic IL2 Fw190 debate was regarding the fact there was an option to remove the outer 20mm cannon in some version which you would expect to lead to an increase in speed.Alas it was accompanied by having a pair of bomb mountings/rails which kida defeated the purpose. This may have been fixed by patch .Its really is amazing and a testament to the talents of Oleg and his team that such accuracy is possible.I tested and there was DEFINITELY a measurable difference in top speed for a (modded?) Sea Hurricane 2c with and without canopy opened...

The biggest difference should be in roll, especially in getting a roll started as in time to bank the wings. IL2 from the original to 1946 does not model 3D weight distribution but upcoming IL2 series does so expect a noticeable difference there. It's not just the weight of the guns but how far off the roll axis they are.

You can also expect an increase in maneuverabiliy by removing the outer wing-guns (less weight = less induced drag), i.e. better turn and slightly better low-speed maneuverability.

Best way to gain performance in the 190 is to remove fuel. Use either 70-80% for almost all missions. It can carry a lot of fuel and you don't need the extra baggage for most missions on the small maps in IL-2.
