Well, first off, I'd like to point out that I'm one of those all or nothing people, usually to the annoyance of others and myself.
So, when I mention the fact that I want to create a cosplay costume based off of Ezio's, I'm trying to make it is authentic as possible....yeah, I just one of those annoying perfectionists in that area http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

But before I get started making my "masterpiece" I want to hear you guys' tips and thoughts on the project

So first off I want to point out some observations of Ezio's costume in the earlier pictures.
After discussing it with my mom, we figured that main part of Ezio's outfit, the jerkin, is most likely satin. Probably bridal satin actually
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb133/UchihaKarasu/Cosplay%20Pics%20and%20Reference/example.png
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb133/UchihaKarasu/Cosplay%20Pics%20and%20Reference/cbs-grey.jpg http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb133/UchihaKarasu/Cosplay%20Pics%20and%20Reference/listerphp.jpg
Now, anyone who knows anything about fabric would know that satin can be pretty damn expensive.
Anyways, other materials would be:
Shirt-Fustian or Linen (or some other light fabric)
Pants-not really sure...cotton?
Cape-Leather and probably satin (for the red)
Boots-Leather
Sash-again, unknown
Gloves-maybe a thin leather ?
And the gauntlet is obviously leather as well.

So I was pulling things together for the planning when the CGI trailer was released. The main part of his outfit was not satin.
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb133/UchihaKarasu/Cosplay%20Pics%20and%20Reference/2-1.jpg
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb133/UchihaKarasu/Cosplay%20Pics%20and%20Reference/3.jpg
I've seen the fabric before but am unable to place it. So, any help on the name would be nice.
I figured instead of Satin, I would go with this design instead since It would be easier on my wallet XD
Another thing I noticed was that instead of the red stripes being part of the Jerkin, they were actually a fabric that was underneath. This was common in the Renaissance. A shirt would have holes and such cut open in a jerkin or doublet and it would reveal another layer of different colored fabric beneath.
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb133/UchihaKarasu/Cosplay%20Pics%20and%20Reference/4-1.jpg

Also, I want to know what the...er...skirt part of the outfit is attached too. The longest piece seems to attach to the red collar but I don't know what the middle one attaches to.
And lastly, for the very finely detailed metal accessories I would like to use a material that is easier to carve and design than metal but can be given the same appearance. Designing metal would be hard AND expensive, sadly. It's probably the one thing I wont do authentically.
http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb133/UchihaKarasu/Cosplay%20Pics%20and%20Reference/5.jpg

Damn.....that was hella long. Sorry about that.
But if you do take the time to read through this, I would appreciate any advice or tips and tricks.
Thanks.

wow... u talked about this with your mom?
...
...
...

anyways the belt looks kinda feathery if i am not mistaken so you could try and heat the metal with a low powered arc welder or cutting torch... (cutting torch would prolly work better but take longer)... then try to imprint a feathery design into the metal... if you could find a metal feather somehow and hammer it into the soft metal maybe...

as for the arm good luck... try looking into an old china shop for similar items thatd be my best guess

i dont know though im only a dumb american good luck with your suit though plz post pics if you can get it to work http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Actually I don't think it was satin in the first place. Satin is a pretty light material and somehow that looks heavier than satin.
I'd say it was some heavy silk in the first picture.
When I did my "communion"(I think non Catholics call it something like eucharist) back when I was a kid the fabric of my dress looked a lot like that and I remember it was a silk dress.

Anyway, silk would be even heavier on your wallet so I guess that's out.

In the trailer it looks more like some kind of cotton I believe.
If that's too expensive for you you could always try going for a "cotton/polyester" blend instead...

As a general rule I would try going for cheaper blends whenever possible. I'm sure your budget would be happy.

And for the metal accessories I guess you'll have to get crafting: If you don't want to use metal you'll have to get creative.

What I would probably do if make some kind of "mesh" with metal wire and actually "cast that in" like they do at the hospital with your broken limbs. I'd roll plaster impregnated bandages(which you can get at any drugstore here) around it until I get a nice result. You can always "fill" your mesh with paper for example to make that easier.
After it's dried I'd polish it and would add the fine details. Now here you'll have to get creative again. You could try working with clay, for example, putting a big layer of clay on it and then scraping it off until you get something nice.
You could also keep it rough and just paint the details on it afterwards...
Before painting it I would "polish" once more and after painting it I would spray it with glossy varnish.

If that's too much fuss just cut it out of cardboard. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

I know Sonikdude made an Ezio Cosplay. He has images in the fanart section.

What I would do is take screen shots of the fabric to a place that sells it and see if they can Identify or match it.

Which reminds me I need to start making looking into stuff for my AC based costume =S

Good luck with your project!

Hey there. I'm in the process of making the cosplay too. Beginning stages though. Just bought fabric for the "first layer" or the shirt and pants.

What I've decided to make the jerkin and such out of is a cotton/twill mix as they're moderately light in terms of weight and wallet. Plus, such fabrics should have the right textures.

About the metal accessories, I was thinking of using "wonderflex" which is like a plastic/fabric combination that you can mold after heating. Also, they're adhesive so you can make individual feathers and stick them together. The problem would be fine details but you could probably follow FYTJ's advice with coating it in something that you could carve with. Another would be price as a sheet of wonderflex had cost my friend around $60.

Finishing off my lont post, thanks for the great screen shots. Would it be okay if I use them as reference?

I used foam for my Altair costume to substitute for metal, but Ezio's metal things don't look as easy to cut with xacto knife (well, Altair's gauntlet was a ***** to cut out with foam too...). Somewhat followed/inspired by this tutorial http://www.entropyhouse.com/pe...tumes/helmsdeep.html (http://www.entropyhouse.com/penwiper/costumes/helmsdeep.html) and stared at all the other cosplayers on Cosplay.com to try to steal their secrets. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

But basically, to make something look at least a little metal-ish, buying certain types of spraypaint can help. My dad had some spraypaint that made this weathered grey metal look. Fancy spray paint on the top piece, silver paint on the bottom http://img.photobucket.com/alb...wnsme/gauntlet-1.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/luciferownsme/gauntlet-1.jpg)

Except it was kind of expensive. My dad joked about having sprayed like $10 onto my gauntlet.

>_> Instead of worrying about what is attached to what, wouldn't it be easier to just sew the whole thing together and just cover it all with the belt? Saves time putting it on too. And depending on how well you deal with temperature making some of the layers fake might make the costume less likely to get very hot because then the layers are just the superficial flappy bits instead of a whole extra coat.

@ FifthGeneration

Good Idea but where am I gonna get supplies like that? And what would the price range be?

@Kaxen
That seems like a really good idea. I'll just have to find a way to make the foam look more solid.

FifthGeneration
06-04-2009, 08:33 PM
unless yoy wanted to buy a cuttingg torch the price maybe up to like 300-400 dollars at a random guess.. i really dont know but you might look into a local school's ag shop if they have one still and ask for help there

im not sure if you can rent one or not

you might be able to hire a fabrication specialist to do it for you

but other than that i really dont know

Anything you can get that's going to be reasonably solid (plastic or a hardwood come to mind) - whatever's easiest and cheapest where you are, then paint with a metallic paint. Even cheap metal with brighter metallic paint would be an appropriate-looking option.

If you can't get a darker metallic cheap, get a bright one and some black or dark grey paint to mix it with.

Also, if your budget's tighter than your free time, consider using a brush instead of spraypaint. It'll take a lot more time than spraypaint, especially for a quality job, but compare prices - difference can be massive. For detail work you usully need to use a brush to get into tight corners neatly anyway.

Also, bear in mind that wood is porous and would be best sanded and treated before painting - but after being carved into shape. Plastic would be easier to do yourself, because it just needs to be shaped and painted.

As for the lower bit of Ezio's outfit [where the fine "wings" pattern is] you could try some very fine-weave burlap hemp. It can be quite rough though so it may not be brilliant. As for the Leather padding over his shoulder, you could get some foam padded fabric of some kind, and simply sew it down to create the sections of armour.

Yeah, I wanted to say tunic but I wasn't sure if it was the correct term XD

And...uh...you lost me about what burlap hemp would be used for...

Make them actually dirty?

Or instead, use dry brush techniques (put as little paint on a paintbrush as possible) to paint on it.

You could do a reverse of a tie-dye technique. Tie off some parts and wash it in a washer with normal detergent. This will remove some of the dye on the sweater and leave it in the places you tied off. This will give it a more worn look and a good texture if tied off right. You can also use a brush to flick red paint/dye onto the sweater to give it a nice splatter effect. Also, the hunter uses duct-tape as the tie offs, so that part should be easy. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

V_V My specialty is stingy cosplay. I don't like breaking the bank for a costume I will only wear two or three times. (well, I'd prance around as Altair more if I went to more conventions...) >_> And for some reason all my costumes are based on hilarious sources... my mother figured out the Altair hood by a penguin costume...

Looking old... I'd probably just try to wear it out. stretch it a bit, yank at the seams, maybe rip it a little... maybe chuck it an unreasonable amount of times into the washing machine? >_> all my poor sweatshirts start looking dead after enough washes...

Maybe stain it a little.

I have this sweatshirt that is one of those nonsensical "It's so fashionable to buy clothes that's been ruined for you!" (well, the tag said "Now every coat is different! :'D") type of things and it's a grey sweatshirt that's been unevenly dyed a slightly different shade of grey so it looks kind of old.

edit: oi I take too long to type. xD

I as well am working on an Ezio costume for Halloween. You seem to be making the standard, and I am making the Black Edition. I have found a lot of tutorials on how to make a hidden blade. You can YouTube a lot of them. One that I found is easy to make and cost effective.

As for the fabrics, I do way too much crafts and sewing for my own good. The Fabric is a Twill Blend. As for the historical aspects of the fabric, it is more than likely a twill, and the under layer a cotton. As for the under layers, there is a quick and easy way to get it to look right. It is a cotton/polyester blend. However, a mid-weight, low gloss fabric would work too.. However, that is a VERY lightweight material. What you will want to do is get fusible interfacing and lots of it. That will make the fabric stable and durable enough for usage. The leathers, I would just recommend Pleather. Beat it up a bit and you are good. Even just leave it in the sun a bit and it will fade a little and weather. A light weight cotton or linen would work well for the shirt and some simple shoe lace for the draw strings.

I would recommend using foam padding (the 1/4" stuff) for some support and comfort on the wrist and shin flanks. You can also look into making the metal armors from that foam, or what I am doing (I have made the clothing already), is trying an experiment. Wrapping aluminum sheeting to mead a clay mold. And if that fails, I'm only out $15. Second option is more time consuming, but will probably look "perfect" if you/I could pull if off. A thin stainless steel plate, in which I will torch cut the outline, and file down for the curvature. A metal grit hand router would come in handy for all the little details. After that, weathering or taring the recesses for a more finished, aged, and tarnished look.

The little things like buttons, d- rings, and buckles, you can find at your local wally-world (walmart) or craft store like Joanne's, Michaels, Hancock fabrics, or Marshalls. They are relatively inexpensive. At this point, I have spent about $70 on just materials, and the likes, so if you have $150, an abundance of time, and a crafty hand, you could make an amazing costume.

Once everything is finished, I will be posting picture of my costume as well. Luckily, we have 4 months till H-day.

Wow!
Thanks for the info! It'll be really helpful.
I'm pretty good with crafts and making things, so with the help of my grandma (one of them, lol) I can probably make the costume the way I envision it.
As for the blade, I already am aware of how to make one authentically, i did some research on the way it works and how to make a cheaper (price wise) version, even though Ezio's blade is much more complicated than Altair's, especially with the gun.

well we are throwing around the possible ways of making certain items like the belt, and fabrics, and so on, so add to it. If you see something that you think we missed, or have a way of making something that we didn't think of, that could be easier and more cost effective, I can't speak for everyone, but I would love to hear it. Hi.

I've got a question (probably silly, but I don't care XD) : Do you make the shirt and the other things from shirts you already have or do you pick up some fabric and do it?

I'd like to help you with the costume by giving you these information (I don't know if you have already seen it :S)

There are 5 layers. Here they are:
http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/2096/eziofullshot11.jpg

I hope I've helped you ^^

EmperorxZurg
07-06-2009, 11:17 AM
Well they used some of the same material as we do now, but really you just layer it, so I would just get shirts you already have. Of course there are some parts where u need to "special order" like the little lace cuff he has on his left hand

SpyderNynja

Heh, shoul've seen this ealier. Props for finding all those nice little details UchihaKarasu. This'll come in handy since I'll be pretty much remaking my whole Ezio costume.

And swiftslasher7, glad to hear there's another traceur here cosplaying. I hope to make a pk vid with my friend as Ezio and Altair soon.

Also, I've been getting a lot of requests to upload pics of my left gauntlet to show how it's made, so I'll post it here too, hopefully it can help someone out a bit.

caswallawn_2k7
07-10-2009, 03:16 PM
if you want cheap metal casting make a cast and use a soft metal with a low melting point and a soldering iron (often hot enough to melt softer metals) cast your item then you only need to coat the surface with silver paint or if you know how you can always electro plate it with items from around the house. (aint explaining that one as it's not entirly safe)

EmperorxZurg
07-10-2009, 03:19 PM
Do u kno where to get a soft metal? is it like some random pipes or smthn?

caswallawn_2k7
07-10-2009, 03:27 PM
if you can find it cheap enough you could just use solder, isnt very strong but it does the job to cast a shape. other than that stuff like tin and lead has a melting point of around 200-300c so can be melted quite easy in the house you just have to be very carfull with it and make sure your mold can take the heat, as even solder gets up to around 200c (lead free has a higher melting point).

It's not too hard to make really, just takes patience and detail. Mine's made from a few sheets of leather, eyelets, model magic and paint. A good way to make the hidden blade is to buy a collapsable tai chi sword (you can find one on google for $15 or so). If you slightly clamp the ends down it'll keep the blade locked in both the open or closed positions, all you need to do is flick your wrist to force it open. A nice cheap way to make one.

EmperorxZurg
07-10-2009, 06:07 PM
thanx, I was wonderin where everyone got there blades from. Was the leather expensive tho?

SpyderNynja
07-10-2009, 06:15 PM
I used vinyl for mine which has the appearance and similar texture of leather and is about 7 dollars a yard.

Also, my blades were constructed from the bottoms of window blinds http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

As sonikdude said, lots of people use collapsible tai chi swords ever since squallleonhart(insert number sequence here) n youtube posted a tutorial about his hidden blade.

What started it?

Getting angry at the fact that there wasn't a good spider man costume out there for sale with completely white eyes http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif and that there wasn't one for the symbiote suit.

Please don't do that, that's one of the things that ****es me off about the cosplaymagic costume. It's not gray, it is white, but it's a dirty white. I suggest finding a way to put a light layer of dirt or something on it to make it darker.

For your questions about the metal parts: sold in Michael's and other art stores are these sheets of metal, along with tools used for engraving. The metal is rather malleable and the designs you can use are really similar to those used in the game. I'm going to see if I can find take some pictures of the materials, for reference. Hope that helps.

That's cool. But the question is: How much does it cost? XD

Swiftslasher: If I could make a quick suggestion, the shoulder-pieces seem rather large, kinda droopy. Overall looks good. Also, if you get the chance make the red inner-lining for the hood. I don't quite know why, but it looked a lot cooler after I did it to mine.

Xanatos: Those are nice replicas, but wouldn't do most of us any good. Most of us make costumes for cons and almost all cons ban live-steel. They also seem a bit pricey...

Keep in mind that these are high quality carbon-stainless steel blades built for combat and made specifically for Global Gear. But yeah, I do agree that they're a bit pricey. C'mon, $120 for a single throwing knife? No wonder Altair steals his instead of buying them.

I wasn't aware that there was stuff that I could apply to mask off the scrollwork (so when coloring the thing it would stay light), so when it dyed, the color actually wound up a lil darker than the untooled areas..

After not liking the results of an attempt tp paint the scrollwork with acrylics (it looked unnatural), I took an exacto and spent a day n change scraping the coating off to bring back the natural leather color (thankfully I used the gel that sits on top, vs. the dye that penetrates the leather).

http://img.photobucket.com/alb...osplay/paulrdon2.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/shmupo/eziocosplay/paulrdon2.jpg)

though I liked the texture and feel that xactoin' it gave, I didn't like such a high contrast between the natural tan and the brown, an seeing as scratched leather takes dyes & stains differently (and Tandy's over an hour away) I went back with the same dark brown gel, and rubbed it back in.. Because the leather was scraped, the gel took a stronger hold, and the scrollwork is now much darker than it originally was, and i actually really like it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/shmupo/eziocosplay/paulrdon3.jpg

Should i decide to redo this and want the scrollwork lighter, i'll instead stain the scrollwork with a lighter brown, toss some resist over that, THEN follow up with my dark brown.

The next stop is the metal clip,
http://img.photobucket.com/alb...ay/pauldronclip1.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/shmupo/eziocosplay/pauldronclip1.jpg)
sprayed gold to spot imperfections, it still needs scrollwork carved into it
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/shmupo/eziocosplay/pauldronclip2.jpg
sculpted in super sculpey, and will go and cast in resin, since theres two, and i never want to do that awful thing again.

welp, between working on other stuff, I went and made the cape from a suede valance from Walmart and some silk from Joanns..
its connected with velcro, cuz I'd rather have it get pulled off when running around than getting choked the hell out if it gets caught on something http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

and heres the beginnings of the belt sculpt. It'll take a bit cuz i'm fitting this in with other work, but I'll need to cast it in fiberglass reinforced resin when its done, because it'll need to withstand a beating

The cosplay gear's looking fantastic, and the velcro's a great idea. I imagine it'd be easier to put on with the cape being detatchable too.

Actually, i'm thinking of swiching the velcro to a cord setup now, or at least setting the velcro further back under the pauldron, so I can keep it in place when flipping it back like in game ^^;

With the sculpey, I ran it through a pasta machine to thin it, (the base "layer" thats down is crazyglued to the template, to make it a lil eaiser to work with without having it slide off http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif )

i left it in my hot car, which tends to slightly harden sculpey a bit, and smoothed it afterwards. you can do similar with a hairdryer, or by working with hard sculpey, (if its too soft, roll out thin sheets and lay them on a paper towel to "leech" it a bit)

Yeah swift, i was looking at snagging some taichi swords, but these new ones are much thinner than the last one, so I'ma just go ad scratchbuild em, since theres some engravings to deal with on the blades themselves as well.

eesh. they're not making this easy lol

Yesterday I somewhat completed the shoulder strap that crosses under the pauldron. I didn't use a straight piece of leather since it would dig into my ribs, and had to make it out of scraps to save on leather. This is bolted together with rivets, cuz Dragon*con's in 5 days and I still have to finish a painting, but afterwards, I'll be replacing it with a strap that I'll sew it all down instead of riveting!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/shmupo/eziocosplay/shoulder-strap2.jpg

Jus' noticed that the back has another bouckle (almost mirrorin' the front) so I'll go and swap that out and add a buckle too

On looking at some of the refs, i saw that he's managed to sneak what looks to be a sword onto the back, and I'm guessing that its strapped onto the back of this thing. If I can find a better ref (or if anyone has any really good refs of that piece o' stab thats sticking out ) , I'll go and punch a couple holes into the back for the strap to accomodate a short sword and bodge a sword together to stick back there!

SpyderNynja

So I finally got to working on my costume today... With Halloween in 7 days I'm really cutting it short... But I'd Like to think I made some real progress today and got alot done and I'm heading in the right direction.

The following image is of me as my own Assassin from the 15th century. Note I still have alot of work to do which will be a pain considering the fact that I have only a week until I need to be finished... Though I believe if I can I'll be able to get it done in 3 days time.

Here's the picture of the prototype.
http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk17/George_Castaldo/CostumeProto.jpg

Note I still have to work on the hood as well as get the front feather like flaps done as well as find a red sash. I also have to work on a vambrace or bracer to cover up the strings of my hidden blade.

Tell me what you think as well as if you want more images. Thank you.

First of all, this is genius, i never thought about making one of these kinds of costumes. Anyway, if you have watched the new show that came out for assassin's creed, it's called Assassins Creed Lineage (look it up on Youtube), he wears tights for his pants. Man, on finally seeing the official licensed AC swords, I was hella disappointed.. actualy I had seen them before, and the handles were so crappily painted (some crappy off white w/ rushed noOb quality rushed drybrushing), that til I realised that they WERE the official ones, I thought they were garbage knockofs.

I never wanted steel to begin with, so I just made mine from wood, (which are convention leagal)

SInce I have a nasty case of bronchitis, and can't be around airborne particles and stuff til it passes, I can't work on my prop commish stuff... which seriously sucks really..

SO I've been working on my AC2 cosplay gear.. its moving along slowly, as i'm no seamstress, an d I'm taking on the sewing partssince i gotta do em sometime. The tunic really isn't easy when you barely know what hell you're doing, but i think i have something resembling his tunic going.

Here's the back.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/shmupo/eziocosplay/tunicwip3.jpg
The lace is a real pain, because it would've been too expensive to buy as a premade roll, so i got a yard of veil looking lace and have been cutting the strips. they take a good while to cut, since i'm following the design on it somewhat. If i'm really lucky i might be able to get most of the tunic done today (collar and, shoulderthings & hood'll come later)

Here's the belt mockup (i had stripped the paint from the insignia, and just poured it for a mold.), I mounted the buckles onto a piece of Cintra that was bent with a heat gun, so the insignia won't be taking any of the strain.

it'll be hidden underneath the sash, with the buckles poking though, and the cardboard'll be replaced by real leather that I'll cut, tool & dye http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif When i cast the insignia i'll add a couple o' bolts, to it, and after drilling a couple holes into the cintra, I'll bolt the insignia onto the belt

I was looking through some gameplay vids and some his res renders of Ezio and noticed something.

In the gameplay vids, the flaps on the shoulder without the cape has the red stripes, but in the renders, it does not.

Hey Thanks Swifty, xyzknyte & sackboy! As more stuff starts to pull together and actually looks more recognizable, its getting more exciting to work on!

But been busy til I can get back in the shop and do other stuff..

Here's the 4 stages for the final insignia, the top left is the original sculpt, top right is the the mold I made using silicone mold rubber (a company called Smooth-on makes it), bottom left is a cast made, (dusted the mold with aluminum powder, then poured resin in), and bottom right is the finished insignia after i cleaned off the excess around the edges, painted it, added bolts to the back and mounted it onto the plate you can see in the last set of pics (its behind the sash) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/shmupo/eziocosplay/belt07.jpg

Here's a closeup of it, Making a few extras to stick on my car and other random stuff XD

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/shmupo/eziocosplay/beltwip3.jpg

And here's the tunic so far, it needs a lil fix before adding the segments on the bottom and the shoulders... and collar.. and hood... ugh.. but i think it turned out okay... should be easier when i get to the black edition one, but considering how long this thing alone took, i'd dead doing the black edition.. at least I can reuse the patterns i had to make for this one http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/shmupo/eziocosplay/tunic.jpg

lol. that pic looks like a renfaire catalog photo XD

...and heres the back ^^ making sure it fits my fiance (he and i are nearly the same size, so he's the perfect model to use for laying stuff out! And i make him run around in it whenever possible <3 )

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/shmupo/eziocosplay/tunicback.jpg

course, theres always some tweaking to do on things, but I'm REALLY happy with how the insignia turned out!. Next up, adding flaps and shoulder bits to the tunic, and changing out the cardboard belt straps with actual leather :3

HewieAlbino, yeah! the same held true in the first AC, there wer a lot of minor differences between different conccept arts, in game imagery, action figures, and other media! Guess as they get closer from cocnept , to promor, to the game itself, then back to merchandise, things shift a bit http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

makes it fun to pick n choose between the stuff we like the most though, and considering all the other stuf you can buy in-game there's gonna be just too many choices XD

Much thanks all! Actually, right now I;m still really happy with the insignia XD, usually i start hating stuff after a week.

The vest i'm okay with, but it still needs "debugging", and I'm making a second one, with a less shiney, but heavier gray fabric. Theres also a couple slits in the back i forgot to put in, so gotta fix that http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
though I like the choice i made in terms of accuracy to the Jazzhands official art, I'm a bit concerned that it developing pulls, so I'm gonna make another out of that thicker material. This one may just stay as a snazzy vest, gone out a couple times wearing it, since its pretty nondescript lol

Uchi, pm me ^^ (are you puzzle of life on DA? )

Howie, I used Super sculpey to make the initial sculpt, and sculpted ad baked it in parts. After sculpting as close as i was in the mood to, and after baking it, I hit it real good with some sandpaper to smooth things out further before making the mold http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Anywhoo, I wound up despising the tunic fabric choice a lot, it turned out looking a lot like the cosplaymagic.com costume, so I went back to the fabric store and got some linen looking material which looks closer to the texture you see when you get close up on Ezio

Tried my hand at dying the fabric, (which is something I've always been afraid of lol) and it actually turned out pretty well. While i was at it, I gave my AC1 gear a serious case of the dingies too X3

So yeah, resewing has begun on that, and will make the upper part a bit looser around the hips, cuz its all bunched up there. Plus other changes since I'm at it lol.. may go and toss together some of a black version too while at it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Another thing is that ezio's "boots" are actually leggings Over his boots, and i think his sash is cotton, while the inside of the cape looks like silk (it just looks that way to me), now one thing the metal can actually be considered essentialy "Studded" leather, you know like jewel incrusted but with metal (otherwise ezio wouldn't be able to role when he landed, or he would get hurt soing so.)

Thanks all for the kind words guys!

since its not in thebuttcrack of the forums, might as well toss a couple updates in..

So yeah.. .HATEDDDD the tunic, mainly because of the fabric choice. So I started over, choosing a different fabric this time, and being extra careful with the stitching.. i know very little sewing, but knew what i hated about the first tunic http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

. Also dyed fabric for the first time http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

a couple weeks, magic, fairy dust, and a loooot of needle stabbings in the hands later, here's what I got: (again, AC1 parts used as placeholders til the AC2 counterparts are completed...)

The tunic still needs the inner collar, two segments on the hood, shoulder pads and lots of embroidered and/or weaved trim.

want to do Missaglias as well.. both of these will be worked on out after finishing the base gear...

iaquino2002, much thanks! The hood (if you see the darker v panel) is sewn directly onto the back of the doublet (stripey tunic vest thinger) then the sides are wrapped around and tucked in.. I'm sorry that doesn't make much sense, but pretty much, make it longer, fold it all, sew the back down, then trial & error your way to success! it actually isn't as bad as you think it would be, once the backs sewn down.

the doublet is one piece, and while it looks like theres another darker & longer tunic underneath, i'm not making the full tunic, just the parts that show, and will stick em in to fake it.. the outfits has thick interfacing in it, and can get hot FAST in mild temperatures. Crossing fingers i won't pass out when wearing armor (once it gets done ^^; )

whoo Darkonous, know what you mean XD

if it wasn't for abusing sales and stockpiling on supplies and stuff whenever i had the extra cash but man it wasn't cheap.. Just hoping i won't need anything else for the next month or so (the leather for the armor was like Ouch! )

Was hoping have more work done by now, but so much other stuff to do oy! Everything's taking way longer than expected T_T

I like the black version , but I still have to look for the right material. For the black and white version.I went to one fabric store today but they didnt have something I can use but I bought a polyester type of black fabric just in case.I can see how this outfit can get pretty hot.

Sorry for double posting.

Anyway ,my project is starting to get into shape. When I saw the game art of Ezio
http://blog.rogersbroadcasting...ssassins-creed-2.jpg (http://blog.rogersbroadcasting.com/gotgame/files/2009/12/assassins-creed-2.jpg)
I will be following this game image art as close as I can.

I remembered this uphosltery fabric that I used for my Tales of the Abyss costume.According to the image the vest's color is not white white, and this fabric is silver white. It is stiffer so I dont need to add any interfacing for this.Thank goodness it was on sale 50%.Now is to find the lining that match the color.I still have to find the fabric of choice for the cape.

I went to Tandy and found the leather of choice for the leggings, the other belt and the shoulder piece and gauntlet.Thank goodness of my membership, I thought I was going to spend over a hundred there.

Fevereon , I still have to tackle the buckle. It would be nice if you can mold me one and I will pay you ,But I havent decided which direction to go with that part.I do have a friend who can make 3d models if not I will make the model out of clay myself.
The weapons, I will probably make around the same time as the buckle.I got some ideas from
http://exoticautomatic.com/index.htm?3ba6e340
for the hidden blade mechanism to use.
The inner shirt is the first one I will make.I found a fabric I like and its an upholstery lining as well.

Hi Persialink,
I have that model too.I am also just starting , making the tunic. Everytime I look at the design , it gives me headache.

Why
1.The hood is attached to the outer garmnet ie jerkin

According to the art the collar should belong to the jerkin.Jerkin are usually made out of leather and slit to provide a better fit.

What Fevereon did is made the hood separate and just attach it over the jerkin with the collar.
I might go that route as well.
Not unless there is a second piece of garment in between the tunic and the jerkin

Oh, for the leather i used dark brown ecoflo antique gel from tandy. Since its waterbased, it dyes differenlty when the leathers damp or dry. when its damp it dyes more uneven.

the tunic was made form some fabric that had a denim texture. It was white, but i went and dyed it

Here's a couple photos from Ohayocon on Jan 30, loaned my ac1 gear to Sonikdude, and he used his AC2 bracer as filler cuz i FAILED and accidently left mine home booooo...

Since that con, I got the shoulder poofs done, but progress is still a bit slow due to other work, maybe about 35-40% done so far. MIGHT have the outer casings for the hidden blades for Katsucon (used my AC1 blade as a placeholder at Ohayo, but it wont' extend/retract because the top plate's buckled into the bracer), but will need to pretty much speed build the puppies tomorrow between packing...

I'll be stuck at a table in the artist's alley for most of the weekend. T_T

In other news, managed to slam together a pair of prototype ac2 hidden blades just before leaving, since the AC1 blade isn't compatible with the left bracer on the 2 gear...

Shoulder poofs are also done, and I'm really happy with them (though seeing them in peripheral vision when I'm wearing the outfit makes me wanna play football XD). you can see the poofs in the pics above ^^

Airlines suck, and they lost my damned AC1 right bracer during my return flight home
