You know I have been playing Aces of the Pacific on my 486SX-25 MHz for...oh say close to 13 years now and recently saw PF. It looks like a mighty fine game and I was wondering if I could play it on my 486?

My specs:
486SX-25
16 Meg EDO ram
14 inch analog monitor
Windows 3.11

She was a real high performer when I got her back then but I am kinda thinking I may need to upgrade

Wow - less than 12ft from me right now is a 486 Win3.11 rig with Aces Over Europe and Aces of the Pacific on it (and Aces of the Deep). It was an SX 25 but several years back I spent big bucks and swapped out the CPU for a SX 50 and doubled my ram to EIGHT megabytes http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif . Still have to use boot disc to run the games though . . . those were (and still can be) the days . . . http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

And to think it was just 10 years ago that such PCs were top of the line. I upgraded from a 486SX-33 to a 486DX-66 and really was on cloud nine, 10 years and two months ago. Almost to the day, Oct. 22nd, 1994. I had 32MB of RAM on that DX machine so it really screamed!!!!

I think I bought an AMD5x86 for about $350 in the day.

I wonder how Grandpa Simpson would sound saying somthing like that?

Where's Dux when you need him http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Only in your dreams.....

But try it I would be curious to see what happens..... or not. My first PC was a 386 DX with a whopping 8M of RAM.....then I upgraded to a 486DX50 with 16M of RAM.. I did it myself too.... although I could never get the mouse, modem, printer and joystick to all work at the same time.

Try installing PF, and then tell me how long it takes for it to load up.

Seriously man, I don't think I'd even bother installing on that little bugger.

I had a 200 MHz MMX with 32 MB of RAM and it ran rings around a 486, but I couln't run CFS or Janes WWII Fighters on it. I think FB/EAP.PF needs more than that.

I'm running a Pent 4, 2.66GHz, 512MB DDR RAM

Aces of the Deep! What an awesome game! Used to play that game for hours and hours when I was about 12 years old.
