Hi!
I already made a general comment about how Ubi is handling localization nowadays, but here's my AC2 specific nag :P

I like to play my games in English. No matter where I happen to buy them. I bought the Dutch x360 version of this (excellent) game, and I'm shocked to find there is no English texts included on the disc! Seriously, the text file for in-game English cannot be that big... A dozen megs maybe? So please PLEASE patch this in, as English is the only way to game imho.

I'm not really sure if it'll work for you, but if you change your console settings to English/UK, won't it be English? I heard some people being able to get it in English, but that was with other games, so I'm not sure if it'll work for AC2.

Personally, I prefer English too, but it's still kind of nice if the developer goes through the trouble of creating the game in other languages as well. I'm still hoping for English, though. *shrugs*

Thanks for the quick reply, but my console language is set to English. I'll try switching my region setting to UK when I get home tonight though... I mean, I'm all for localization, and find it to be a very good service, but I still can't believe Ubi would omit the English pack from the localized versions. It makes no sense at all. I wonder if the game was originally made in French though?

Anyway -- localization: good, omitting the English from localized discs: BAD.

So in the dutch version you have 5 languages for voice and only dutch for text ?

!!! I want a Greek Language Pack! Can that happen ? Please Devs? Guess not :P , anyway back to the topic . If you mean everything is in Italian , the game is made like that , if it is all in Dutch ... then dunno wtf happened ?? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Like I said, the text are in Dutch. Audio is not Italian luckily, but English.

Also... Mods closed my topic in the general discussion, even though it was meant to be a general localization related. I would appreciate if I got answers to my questions before locking a related, but not the same, topic.

Just set your locale to United Kingdom. I did the same thing a while ago to avoid some horrible Dutch translations/localizations in games (such as Saints Row 2 for example)
My Dutch bought AC2 has English texts and menu

I always set everything to English, eventhough I'm Dutch I absolutely loathe Dutch text in games and such http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks for that!
I started thinking about that at work... I find it curious that it would be in the locale, not the language options though. Hope it works!

Thanks for giving me hope http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Trust me, it'll work, it does for me and a friend http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Took me a while to figure out as well back then.

The language settings is only for your Xbox itself apparantly, not the games.
It actually makes sense if you think about it: the localizations in games read from your Locale settings.

For a Dutch person like my it sounds perfect since the orginal AC haven't any subtittles at all. If I can play it in english and read what they say in dutch sounds good since sometimes its hard to follow with many "advanced" english words.

That's true, but it should be a simple thing to program in a choice for switching from Dutch to English subtitles and text for those who prefer English (such as m00mi and myself)

Getting it forced on you just because your Xbox locale is set to the Netherlands is something else http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

If you ordered the black edition: Maybe its not in there because its possible bol.com imported it from the UK.

every country in Europe got their own supply, it wasn't only released in the UK.

Just to confirm, Mr-Tin's advice about switching the locale helped and I am grateful!

For the record, Ubisoft, imo it should be the console's language setting that controls your game setting for language.
