I would like to take-off from water with hydroplanes in a dogfight mission, but I don't know how should i create this in FMB.
I tried create a home base on a test runway 4, but in the game the planes started from 1000 m, not at water-line.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks!

There are no flyable float planes in IL2. (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/6881093346)

You can also set it up in the UQMB (Uber Quick Mission Builder) using the 'waterworld' map with the Zero Float Plane. I finally got around to trying it and it's loads of fun! You never run out of runway http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Why would you say there are no float planes and then link to a thread that clearly states there is one float plane?

There are several airfields that are in the water. These wuld be the bases you would need to use for floatplanes. I think there is at least on on the Murmansk map. Also look on the Pacific maps. You will see the two airfield icons and the "airfield" will be just off the coast and be entirely in the water.

Yeah, I never tried all the Zero's. I thought they meant there were none.

I tried that float zero once, just to see how accurate it was to float flying, I was supprised, it was pretty close to the real thing, better than MS, I did a step cruise down a snakey river till I ran up on a beach!

Try it guys, just get it up on the float step, then pull enough power back to keep it there without takeing off, it will take some practice for you guys without any float time, but worth it!.. fun! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I created two fictional campaigns for the Rufe - as the float version of the Zero is called. Follow the link in my sig to my download section of Mission4Today. The Rufe campaigns are "Straight Shot" and "Straight Into an Icy Hell".

Many of the missions start as "catapult launches" from the Japanese Heavy Cruiser Hashimoto.

We used to have a dogfight map like that some time ago. Really bad weather and two bases for "pontoon planes". http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif Heck of a lot of fun. Clouds, wind, rain and burning floats everywhere. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/inlove.gif

MG smacks forehead in surprise -- of course I should have thunk it, YOU'VE flown float planes!
But really, there's not much cargo space in a Rufe! And way too much engine! LOL!

BTW have you ever seen Red Green and the Buzz Sherwood character?

Is it still around?

I actually took off with a Rufe in one of our co-op missions a few weeks ago, well, it's not like taking off from the ground http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif First I had problems to get it up on the float, and then accelerate that way. Also if the wing floats are skimming the water asymetrically, the aircraft appears to be pulling over to that side... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Anyhow, I am sure it's great fun to cruise around floating on the water, but in that particluar mission, SBDs and Wildcats ruin the fun in about 2 minutes from start http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I know what you mean, I tried it from both sides, kind of like shootin fish in a barrel! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Thanks gunz! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I wonder if they have any duct tape left? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Set the plane to takeoff at a land base and set the next waypoint to the direction you want the plane facing when it takes off in the water. Now drag the little takeoff symbol into the water and the plane will spawn there.

I've played "Straight Shot" and I enjoyed it quite a bit. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I wasn't sure...I thought maybe he meant a dogfight coop but for the OP to be clear if you are making a dogfight map you have to use the map's runways or the test runways as there is no way to make a water spawn in a DF map.

FYI - for coops, the trick above works on land to if you want to start off in the middle of a city or on a country road,etc... (just set flight size to 1 because others may start in a building http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif ).
