first, let start out with a story..

was flying a mission in an il-2. it was an attack on an airfield. the mission began easy enough. 3 flights of 4 il-2's. and 2 flights of 3 Yak escorts. we made it all the way to the target area un-molested. i began to prepare for my first run on the airfield. we got all the ducks in a row and i spotted a nice row of 111's, a perfect target for my 250lb'ers. 1 flight of 4 109's scrambled from the field, but they where of no worry to me. as my flight got closer to the airfield, we ran into a wall of lead from AAA. and i mean a WALL! it was everywhere. so i did what any good pilot would do and tried to fly right though it. i came out the other side with no rudder or elevator control, a large hole in the left wing, engine smoking and coughing. basically finished. i managed to crash land using the throttle to somewhat control pitch and the flaps to raisethe nose at the last minute. anyhow, i re-tried the mission several times to more or less the same result. upon the 4th or 5th time around, i decided to cheat and pause the game and examine the defenses of the airfield for weaknesses in the way the AAA was set up so that i might exploit it on the first run. i saw that there were 6 of those pickup truck thingys with the AAA onb the back(sorry i dont know the technical name) clustered towards the center of the field. upon my next attempt, i targeted those trucks first. with my cannons and a few, well placed rockets, i took out 4 outa the 6, making my next run on thoses 111's much easier.

now, the idea i had was...
it would be cool if the mission briefing was alittle more detailed. they should let you know what kind of opposition you can expect and so on. intel report accuracy should be varied of course. and maybe even on some missions, include a recon photo. and i dont mean a high resolution screenshot of the target. i mean a grainy looking photo.(remember CFS2?) i just think it would help when deciding how the go about attacking a target. bomber pilots usually had some sort of intel before flying a mission, right?

would something like that even be possible in a patch?

I don't imagine anything like this will be added to FB, don't know if it's possible but even if it is Oleg will probably save it for the next game.

Still, it's a great idea and I would love to see something like this implemented.

if maximum zoom into the map during briefing, arent trucks marked with a truck and stationary AA marked by a little gun ?
thats what i go by when preparing for a mission..
though a recon photo would be very cool. that way recon planes would acctually make sense.

i think it is a great idea - i was thinking exactly the same thing yesterday - aside from adding a bit more realism - it would add to the depth of the immersion and also be a great help - especially in mission where icons and/or minimap path is off - in order to i.d the intended target and as you said allow for forward planning of how to go about attacking the target.

yea, its hard to find targets when they are buried in the middle of a city or town. recon photos would make it possible to use landmarks like cerain buildings or factories to find the target. oh well, wishfull thinking i guess
