Either my sonar guy hasn't hit puberty OR he's sucking on helium. He sounds like a little girl or some sort of 10 year old. I mean, I've heard "rumours" that he's deaf but I didn't know he was a kid. I think he stowed on board when I got transferred to Brest since he seems to have joined me on my patrol leaving there.

.....dang kids.

That officer annoys me, he only does deck gun duty or torpedo room duty.

i usually look for a guy with that voice, then use him as the sonar officer. his high pitch voice usually grabs my attention, otherwise i find myself dosing off http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Say, this is only loosely related. . .

When you were transfered to Brest, how did you get there? Did you sail right through the channel? I ask because I heard the English mined the Straits of Dover early on, and that U-Boats had to sail around Scotland to get to their French ports. That might be a bit much to ask for in a game, but I was just curious.

Your crew has different voices?

I'm guessing it's the same thing I've experienced. There's only a couple different voices, but they change the pitch of them to make everyone sound a little different. The helium description is pretty on the money.

There's a Wharf in there too somewhere. The first voice in the game that I heard. Most amusing.

My torpedoe room guy sometimes fills in for my CE officer (who commands the damage team in times of danger) and he can curl your hair when he starts barking orders, really shouts in a nice loud voice. Scarrry... I'd hate to be the seaman sitting at the wheel with him behind me. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

Portillos,

To answer your question, I was just rounding the Denmark peninsula when I got a "radio message" (ya ya, keep up the good work, I know). I decided to check it out and that's when I was informed of my new base, that being Brest.

I turned my boat around and sailed 'er through the channel. I had no choice as I was running desperately low on fuel. I made it, hugging the French coast as I had no more torps. I floated into Brest on fumes. I've been based out of there for a couple months now.

My Watch Officer and Nav both had that hi-pitched voice...I left them both at base on the last patrol... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
