View Full Version : I'm impressed with the IL-10 1946...

Hi all,

I used to fly the original 1L-2 regularly in dog fight rooms.

I was successful enough to get 'kicked' from a couple of servers as I was regarded as a 'cheat'.

I had exploited the advantages of the IL-2 enough to down 109s and anything else.(and I was downed a few times also http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/touche.gif)

The new IL-10 has the same potential. But it's harder to land and the cockpit view is more limited....but it is an IL-2 on chunky steroids IMHO http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Not tried it online yet..... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Yep, the glass could certainly do with a clean, that may improve the view a little http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Ive used to enjoy the IL-2s a lot, and are something I have only recently returned to with a renewed enthusasm for the ol' bird.

Ive not done a great deal with the IL-10 yet, save for a few QMB set ups, and the first couple of missions of the static campaign. But as you say, its an IL-2+++, and I rate it.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Hi Hanglands,

I suspect that we are from the same stock http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

I like to fly the 'underdog' plane and catch the unwary !!

The IL-2 and IL-10 are in my opinion upgraded RAF Fairey Battles from 1940...or maybe that's a leap of faith?

But the IL-2/10 are great to fly.

I used to love the 500-800m right angle deflection shots on the unwary enemy fighters who thought I was too far for a good shot in coops http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif. Those 37mm cannon were just great for that and the convergence I used for ground targets in those days was also perfect for it http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif

I'm loving it also, probably my favourite from 46. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Il-10 is definitely the greatest surprise of the '46. It is just so fast and in a dive it's a real demon. A souped up Il-2! The visibility is unfortunately very limited - I think it's the first plane I fly with the help of instruments.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Online, it's a monster. You have to turn off the gunner though, or stupid AI will waste all 150 precious rounds in the first seconds of encounter into empty sky.

It is very, very tough. Eats 20mm shells like candy. Bombload is somewhat limited, it's actually slightly less than IL2 can carry.

No wonder they called it "the beast" once.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I find it's ordnance loadouts rather limiting.

I miss my AJ Cassettes.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I liked flying missions as a Series 1 (16xRs82) against polish squadrons.

The P11 can barely scratch you. It is what the bird was designed for.
